A ramen restaurant located on floor B1 of the CiC building, which is located just past the south exit of JR Toyama Station. Famous for its Toyama black ramen, a local favorite characterized by its dark black broth, the restaurant is a frequent destination for tourists. This flavorful broth, made by combining a chicken and seafood stock with a slow-stewed fish sauce, is the restaurant’s pride and joy. Despite appearances, the flavor is actually quite light. The stylish interior, accented with red here and there, makes it easy even for women to enter on their own.

Came for the ramen but loved the gyoza! Amongst our group we ordered the black soy ramen, white shrimp ramen, roast pork rice and pork gyoza. I personally found the broth on my white shrimp ramen...

Ramen Isshin is located on the first floor of the Chitetsu Building, just five minutes’ walk from Toyama Station in Sakura-machi in the city of Toyama. It serves ramen made in-house with only natural ingredients and without any artificial chemical flavorings, as well as Maze Soba. One of its most popular dishes is Boiled Egg Raman, which is topped with an egg that has boiled over low heat and then steeped in dipping sauce for two days or more.

The most famous place in Toyama to eat ramen. I both like miso and shio ramen. The taste and the service are always perfect as usual in Japan. We went together with friends and had a very pleasant...

This ramen shop is located a two-minute walk from Kojo Koen Park Gate of Takaoka Station. They serve an improved Toyama black ramen, a mix of Toyama’s famous black soy sauce ramen with seafood stock, so it’s easy for anyone to eat. There is a wide selection, from standard pot stickers, to “Takaoka’s famous croquette,” “tororo kelp onigiri” and “Taiwan soboro don.”

"This ramen shop which opened in 1947 is the originator of Toyama black ramen, Toyama's first ""B-class gourmet."" The shop, located a one-minute walk from Toyama City Tram Line Grand Plaza Station, is frequented by celebrities. Its main item, chuka soba (ramen noodles), is notable for its dark black soup, roast pork, and coarse-ground pepper. The richly-flavored broth packs a punch that borders on briny. Diners who cannot handle the saltiness can eat the ramen with a side of white rice to adjust the flavor. Beloved by laborers in Toyama since right after the end of World War II, Toyama black ramen has been thought of as a soul food for generations of Toyama citizens."

Nishichō Taiki is a lovely joint, an old shack rubbing shoulders with two larger buildings by the modern city centre of Toyama. Here is the original home of what today is known as Toyama Black. This...

"This ramen shop is next to the Motomachi-Tobu crossing, a 20-minute walk from the south gate of Hokuriku Main Line Kosugi Station. It is notable for its ""Toyama Black"" broth, which is rich with the flavor of broad velvet shrimp, the jewels of Toyama Bay. This famous ramen shop has placed first many times at the Tokyo Ramen Show. Their black broth, which is boiled for hours with plenty of fish meal, has an easy-going richness and is well known for being highly addictive"

Toyama Areas

around-area-map

Toyama is one of the three prefectures that house the Japanese Alps, with its southern and eastern borders comprising one long stretch of mountains, out of which the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is forged. While traditional crafts fill the northern coastal cities of Toyama and Takaoka, thatched roof houses offer unrivalled views against a backdrop of fantastic scenery at Gokayama in the mountainous area in the south of the prefecture.
