    A long-established shop of the famous tsubamesanjo style of ramen in Tsubame city, Niigata prefecture. Tsubamesanjo-style ramen features extremely thick noodles, with creamy soy soup made with small dried sardines or seafood stock, and completed with a large amount of park back fat. It’s so popular that people will say “Koshu Hanten” whenever Tsubamesanjo-style ramen is mentioned. They also offer fried rice, curry rice, large-sized dumplings, stir-fried vegetables, beef stew and many wonderful dishes.

    Shasaian Hirashio is a souvenir shop with a café featuring Japanese-style sweets on the second floor, located outside the main gate of Yahiko Shrine. Originally built in 1849 by the shrine carpenters as a traditional farmhouse, the building was repurposed by the German architectural designer Karl Bengs. The eye is drawn to the red pine colored outer walls, the modern interior furnishings, and the black pillars and beams. The first floor features furoshiki wrapping cloths, hand towels, incense, traditional sweets, and other Japanese-style souvenirs, and customers can relax in the tea shop on the second floor, which sells sweets made from ingredients, such as the highest grade of matcha tea from Uji and carefully selected Tamba Dainagon azuki beans. The nearest train station is Yahiko Station.

    Bunsuido Cake Shop is famous for its White Panda-yaki, for which it won 1st prize at the All Japan Sweet Snack Festival in 2010, and which has been featured on popular variety TV shows. The White Panda-yaki, individually handmade by pouring the batter made with rice flour into a baking mold, has a characteristically chewy texture and is very filling. Their most popular item is the Yahiko Musume made with the local specialty edamame for bean paste. The shop also sells Panda-yaki made with custard or chocolate filling, and soft ice-cream, etc. The nearest station is Yahiko Station.

    This restaurant is an eight-minute walk from JR Yahiko Station and is known for serving fresh fish caught from the nearby harbor as well as local sake. The “wappa-meshi-zen” dish, made by bending a thin strip of wood and filling it with rice, fish, salmon roe, and more, is particularly famous. You can also enjoy sashimi made with locally caught fish, broiled “nodoguro,” oysters, and other a la carte dishes are available as well, with the “oban minced squid” being particularly popular. Since it is located on the approach to Yahiko-jinja Shrine, you can drop in before or after your shrine visit.

    さすが米どころ！わっぱご飯も最高！！ 少々塩っけの多い鮭でしたが美味しくいただけました。 青のりは必要ないかもでした。 今度は近くで一泊して地元の酒蔵の大吟醸に刺身の盛り合わせでいただきたいですね。 夜お伺いしたいお店でした。

    This ramen shop is located a six-minute walk from Tsubame-Sanjo Station in 1 Chome Sugoro, Sanjo City. Picking up on the trend from well-established “Fukuraitei,” they offer the so-called “Tsubame-Sanjo-kei” ramen. In the soy sauce soup with floating oils, the flat noodles intertwine, and onions and chasiu (roasted pork) are served on top. When you want a lot of onions, the “tamanegi chuka” is a good bet.

    背脂が多く入る燕三条系のラーメンですが、こってりそうな見た目と反して、案外スッキリで、ほのかに酸味があるラーメンでした。

    新潟にお墓詣りに行った帰り道に、久しぶりに寄ったのですが、本当は関東で売り切れになっていたクオーターパウンダーを食べたかったのですが、ここも売り切れでコーヒーだけ飲みました。立地は国道の角にあり、意外と出入りが大変。もう少し角じゃない方が出入りが楽ですね。

    長岡から新潟に向かう国道8号沿いにあります。 駐車場は広いですが、ドライブスルーと重なっている部分があります。 店内は広く、マックカフェが併設されていますが、時間帯に寄っては、マックのカウンターでの注文となるようです。 ドライブ途中、小腹が空いたり、喉が渇いた時に、気軽に寄れます。

    近所の丸亀製麺しか行った事がなく、三条で路面店を見つけて入店しました。 店内は広くて開放的。テーブル席以外にも小上がり席があるのは、お子様連れにも嬉しいですね。 普段見た事ない、雪国まいたけの天ぷらを見つけ、テンションが上がりました！一つが大きい上に¥140という価格。舞茸天、美味しかったです。

    多分この辺だけだと思いますが、カレーラーメンがあります。カレーを食べに行ったので注文はしませんでしたが、一瞬迷いました。北海道だとメニューにスープカレーもありますが、ご当地オリジナルメニューがあるのは良いと思います。
