- The Japan Society of Civil Engineers has chosen the Kanose Dam as one of the 2000 valuable Japanese civil engineering structures remaining from early modern times. It is also called the Tsunogami Dam, after the former name of the section of the village where it is located. The construction of the dam created a lake with a mystical appearance. It is known as a famous place for viewing cherry blossoms, and most years, several hundred Yoshino cherry and hill cherry trees bloom all at once late in April. The snow camellia garden is on the left side of downstream of the dam, where the wild original snow camellia is protected and carefully taken care of. You can enjoy a lovely crimson flowers there.
