The Bandai Bridge is a road bridge that carries National Route 7 across the Shinano River. Built in 1929, the current Bridge was the third bridge to be constructed on this site. The Bridge remained intact during the Niigata Earthquake of 1964, and played an important role in the evacuation of residents affected by the earthquake and in subsequent reconstruction work. The Bandai Bridge has been designated an Important Cultural Property, and now is a symbol of Niigata City as well.

This bridge spans the Shinano River flowing through Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. Intersecting with Nagaoka City's main street, it gets pretty busy. Originally it had two lanes when it opened in 1985, but it was upgraded to four lanes in 2010 to cope with the increase in traffic volume. It's a great spot to view the Nagaoka Fireworks when vehicles are banned and it's transformed into a pedestrian thoroughfare. During the climax of the event, cascading Niagara fireworks are launched from below the bridge.

    Nigata Pref. Uonumashi Kamioritate
Located between Tochiomata Onsen and Oyu Onsen in the Yunotani Onsen Village, Mikairibashi spans the Sanashigawa River. It has been the subject of local songs, and it is believed to fulfill wishes to meet a longed-for person again. It is said that there was once a huge willow tree, called Mikaeri Yanagi, near the bridge. According to local traditions, people returning from the therapeutic baths would think back to their encounters and memories under the tree. It was believed that looking back under the tree several times would bring about a second encounter with the person one was thinking about. However, that willow tree is no longer there.
