    Kanagawa Pref. Fujisawashi Enoshima 2-3
Created by English trader Samuel Cocking in 1882, the garden was later restored by the city of Fujisawa. The garden was also once destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. When the garden was created, it was the third Japanese-Western garden in the nation and also boasted the largest greenhouse in the East. Visitors can enjoy Cook and hoop pines, designated Natural Monuments by the city, as well as subtropical plants and seasonal flowers such as camellias.

Kanagawa Areas

around-area-map

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
