    This tofu shop located two minutes on foot from Gora Station has been frequented by famous Hakone hotels, restaurants and local people alike for over 100 years since it was established. The shakuri-dofu, which is scooped straight from the still-warm freshly-made tofu, is popular and tourists flock to this tiny shop looking for the high-quality tofu that can only be sampled here. As it often sells out before lunchtime, it is better to visit in the morning. The shop also sells classics such as firm momen tofu, atsuage (deep-fried tofu) and ganmodoki (fried tofu containing vegetables, etc.).

    早朝からオープンしているので、朝食用にオススメ。しゃくり豆腐ができたて感満載で、豆腐本来の甘みを楽しめる。最初は醤油をつけずにいただきたい。

    Located on hill on the grounds of the Jomyo-ji Temple, this café and restaurant, first opened in 2000, is housed inside a remodeled Western-style building some 80 years old. From the terrace seating, visitors can enjoy a meal or a cup of tea while looking out over the seasonal flowers which bloom year round in the adjoining garden. Ishigama Garden Terrace serves seasonal dishes made with fresh, local Kamakura vegetables and herbs grown in the café’s garden, as well as breads baked in the stone oven in its glass-sided bakery. A 100 yen fee is required to enter the grounds of the Jomyo-ji Temple.

    スコーンのセットを注文しました。テラス席でゆっくりいただきました。良い時期に行ったので、お花がきれいでした。お寺の奥にある、穴場レストランです。平日だったので、特に待つことなく入れました。また行きたい＆秘密にしたいレストランです。

    A traditional Buddhist vegetarian restaurant located close to the Kencho-ji Temple, one of the “Kamakura Gozan” (Five Mountain Temples of Kamakura). Kenchin-jiru, a soup made by stewing burdock and other vegetables, was originally called “Kencho-jiru” because it was invented at the Kencho-ji Temple. Over the years, the pronunciation became corrupted until it achieved its present name. In addition to Kencho-jiru, diners can enjoy other soups with soba and udon noodles as well as the unique flavors of traditional Buddhist vegetarian cuisine made only with vegetables.

    ご年配ご夫婦が切り盛りしているお店です。 店内は昭和を感じさせる雰囲気で◎。 評価が低いようですが別にそこまで悪くないと個人的には思います。 けんちんそばはシャキシャキしてて美味しかったです。 ご馳走さまでした！

    A shop which sells dried, processed, and ready-made foods made with fresh local seafood caught with the shop’s own family boat, the Kattobi-maru. The shop’s next door sister establishment, a restaurant also named Kattobi, offers delicious seafood cuisine in a Japanese atmosphere with a view of the sea stretching out before your eyes. The restaurant also has more intimate private dining rooms.

    いつもは近くのあさまるやえぼしに行ってますが遅いランチだったので両店が営業時間外だったので消去法で行きました。 セット料理(刺身、アジフライ等)としらすのクリームコロッケを注文しました。美味しくいただきました。ただ、スタッフレスポンスは悪かった。

    今年も寒川神社で八方除けの御祈祷をして、 茅ヶ崎駅から直結のラスカで生シラスを頂こうと、 快飛さんに伺いました。 ここ数年は不漁や悪天候で お目当てに出会うことが出来ませんでしたが、 今回は運良く生シラスに出会えました。 旬の食材はパワーチャージにはもってこいです。 しらすづくしの御膳と天青（てんせい※茅ヶ崎の地酒）の 組み合わせは最高！ 幸せの一言に尽きます。 ご馳走さまです。

    This is a rest spot in the grounds of “Hakone-jinja Shrine” in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo County, Kanagawa Prefecture, offering sweets, light meals and drinks. The famous Gongen Karamemochi is fresh mochi (sticky rice cake) with anko (red bean paste), kinako (roast soy bean flour), sesame, seaweed and grated daikon radishes. They also serve hand-dripped Hakone coffee with divine water. The Ore-no-Udon Aka (“my udon, red”), a popular specialty with tourists even featured on television, is a tasty mix of springy noodles and spicy soup. This is an easy place to visit for lunch or a break while visiting the shrine.

    高速道路サービスエリアの様、駐車場の中にあり。お餅は美味しく、大きな幸せのお福分け（幸せのかしわ餅）を買ったが、次の日に食べても、柔らかかった。一度は、食べるべき！。神社にジンジャーをかけた、”神社声援”ジンジャー炭酸水は美味しかった。

The restaurant serves Western-style grilled skewers, pastas, and other dishes. The ajillo, made with angel shrimp farmed in the waters of New Caledonia, is one of the most popular items on the menu. The restaurant has an L-shaped counter on the first floor and sofa seating and a couple's counter on the second floor.

    こちらの桜木町の中ではとてもおしゃれな感じの部類に入るお店でいろいろの洋食のメニューがあってワインとかウイスキーなどと味を合わせて食べることができるのでとても良いお店でした

    This school cafeteria, which is also open to the general public, is located on the second floor of Building 10 on Kanagawa University's Yokohama Campus a 13-minute walk from Hakuraku Station and Higashi-hakuraku Station. The cafeteria is also close to the Kanagawa daigaku iriguchi and Rokkakubashi nishicho bus stops. Of the four cafeterias on campus, this one is the largest. The cafeteria is dedicated to the concept of local production for local consumption, and its burdock salad made with fresh-picked vegetables is highly popular. Note that the cafeteria's hours are different on Saturdays.

    The ARUKAMAK CAFE had been in operation since 2001, but when they moved to a location near Hachimangu in 2013 they re-opened as Chouzumeya Hachimangumae. They serve five kinds of grilled sausages, sausage sandwiches, three kinds of Shonan beer, and soft drinks. Original items are available from each of their three stores. Available for dining in or taking to eat while walking around town. You won't want to miss the great flavor.

    鶴岡八幡宮近くにある「腸詰屋」へ訪問しました。 店内にも食事をするスペースはあるのですが、今回はテイクアウトで。 店頭には、数種類のソーセージが販売されてます。食べ歩きにはちょうど良いと思います。

    A mixed-use tourist facility near the shores of Lake Ashi. The second floor features a restaurant with a view of the lake while the first floor is a shop offering souvenirs and take-away foods. The restaurant offers local Hakone specialties including Fried Wakasagi (pond smelt) and soba served with grated Japanese yam. Their Hakone Kaiun Tamatebako (Good Fortune Treasure Box) comes with small servings of a variety of local specialty dishes including Yuba (a delicacy made with tofu skin) and is very popular amongst female customers. Amongst their souvenirs their Enmusubi-Yaki (Matchmaking Dessert), a heart-shaped adorable grilled treat with red bean paste filling, and their Madeleine made with Japanese style ingredients are gaining in popularity.

    A convenient stop over lunch place at Mitohakone-ko station at Hakone. The restaurant is located at the 2nd floor of a 3 storey building with a very good view of Lake Ashi. Ordered a tempura rice set...

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha.
