    A long-standing tofu shop which has operated for over 100 years since Japan’s Edo period. The shop is famous for its kumi-dofu, a tofu which is given a silky texture somewhere between regular tofu and soy milk by reducing the amount of nigari used. Many like to stop by the shop to pick up a little kumi-dofu as a snack while on a stroll. The shop’s dessert-style tofu, an exquisite balance of delicate sweetness and tofu flavor, is superb, and the black sesame flavor is particularly popular. The shop also sells a variety of other tofu varieties and tofu products, including kinugoshi silken tofu, aburaage fried tofu, and ganmodoki deep-fried tofu mixed with vegetables. This famous shop has been featured on TV. The closest station is Miyanoshita Station.

    This is an umeboshi (pickled plum) store along the old Tokaido Highway close to Hakone Yumoto Station. It has been in a local family for three generations and uses plums from a Kishu orchard with which it has had a contract since the first generation and makes and sells various accompaniments to rice from the old classics to rare types. In addition to three-year and five-year pickled plums, there are many other products including umeboshi such as sweet Aji-pittari using Nanko-ume plums and Umetaiko, a combination of a mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and plums, as well as tsukudani (preserved in sweetened soy sauce) and Japanese pickles. There is a wide range of products that are not only great for personal use but also for gifts to take home with you or to send to people.

    This is a Japanese-style sweets shop close to Hakone-Yumoto Station, and is a long-established place in 1900. They have served their onsen manju (hot spring steamed bun) ever since opening, and sell each morning’s freshly made sweets at their storefront. The manju, with their quality sweet bean paste inside a thin skin, sends a waft of brown sugar aroma around the mouth with every bite. Popular as a souvenir, visitors also enjoy eating there and then while the sweets are still warm. The second floor is a teahouse where one can enjoy the fresh made manju with tea.

    This is a traditional tofu shop in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo County, Kanagawa Prefecture, one of Hakone’s oldest shops operating over 200 years since the Edo period. Using natural bittern and Hakone’s delicious water, the firm tofu made early in the morning brings a large number of regular customers. The Ganmo (deep fried tofu mixed with thinly sliced vegetables) with Chinese yam, carrot and sesame inside is popular as both a snack and side dish. The famous Tamadare Tofu, Sesame Tofu and Soy Milk Almond Jelly can be eaten sitting on the storefront bench just likeregular sweets.

    Located in a building directly connected to Hakone Yumoto Station by a walkway, Mitsuki has a souvenir shop on the first floor and a restaurant specializing in kamaboko (fish sausage), directly owned by the famous Odawara restaurant Kagosei on the second floor. The third floor is a food court. The souvenir shop is based on the concept of having a collection of every kind of souvenir of Hakone, and in addition to selling everything from confections made in Hakone to merchandise labeled with the names of hot spring resorts. There are also areas where customers can try their hands at making their own Satsuma Age (deep-friend fish) or patronize a booth that sells rice buns steamed in hot spring water and served hot.

    Takeichi, located about five minutes’ walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station, is a specialty shop for surimidango (a minced fish ball) which is a Hakone Yumoto local specialty. Deep-fried surimidango, stone-milled white fish kneaded with seasonal vegetables, range from standard items such as burdock and onion to limited seasonal products such as soy bean. Only enough fish balls for the day are prepared and sold while they are still fresh. They have become so popular they often sell out in the morning.

    超有名店とは全然違いますが、どれもおいしかった。とくにすりみ揚げはビールのおつまみにぴったり。チーズかまぼこもおいしく、卵の甘いかまぼこも美味しかった。通販で再度購入しようと思うくらいにはよかったです。

    Ginkatsu-koubou is a café located around two minutes’ walk from Gora Station. The café serves “Ginkatsu Sandwiches,” made using Mochi pork cutlet fried in 100%-pure rice oil which is sandwiched between slices of the Fujiya Hotel’s famous “Picot” bread, as well as healthy tofu burger sandwiches, a range of other burgers, croquettes, and French fries, along with plenty of dessert options, including choux cream and parfait, etc., and a selection of beers and soft drinks. Besides the eat-in area, take-out service is also available.

Malasada is prepared in a single consistent process, starting with the mixing of the flour and other ingredients. Leonard’s malasada is never prepared in advance, meaning you can always enjoy it fresh cooked. The shop also has an eat-in space.

    This ice cream shop is located on the first floor of Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 2 in the Shin-Minato district of Naka Ward, Yokohama City. They make a contemporary version of Aisukurin, made with just milk, egg yolks and sugar, and also said to be the first kind of ice cream made in Japan. Six types of ice cream are offered together with monaka (sweet bean paste sandwiched between thin crisp wafers made from mochi rice cake), including their freshly-made Yokohama Bashamichi ice custard.

    イベントついでにお邪魔した際、冷たいものが食べたくて直ぐに買えそうなコチラのお店に行きました。 手のひらのカップのアイスで390円だったかな。ハーゲンダッツのような濃い味でもなく、薄い味でもない。ほんのりとお上品といえば、それらしい。 写真のようにカップアイスは上にモナカが被さっております。どうやらコーンは無さそうなのでご注意を。
