"A lush urban forest that makes it easy to take in views of the sea and mountains typical of Hayama. A hiking course with a log staircase, benches, and an arbor traverses three peaks. Hikers are welcomed by cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, hydrangeas in early summer, and birds and flowers like tiger lilies in summer. The view of the sea and Mt. Fuji from the observatory and the mountaintop plaza is wonderful; it has been selected as one of ""100 Best Views of Mt. Fuji in Kanto"""

    よく整備されているハイキングコースです。山頂や途中の展望台からは海岸を一望できます。桜の時期が一番おススメです。

From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view encompassing the Miura Peninsula, Izu Peninsula, Mt. Fuji, Hakone Mountains, Oshima Island, and Boso Peninsula. Kanagawa Yokosuka-shi Akiya
A promenade along the Maeda River, one of the few rivers that still have a natural environment. The wooden and stone paths continue along the riverbed just down the stairs from the starting point, Oguni Bridge. Stepping stones have also been placed in the river, allowing visitors to get a close look at small fish, river crabs, and other waterside living things.

    Kanagawa Miura-shi Minamishitauramachi Matsuwa-Miura-shi Miyagawacho
This walking course is along the coast at the tip of the Miura Peninsula. It has a view of the Uraga Channel and the Boso Peninsula and is a good spot to hike while enjoying the coast. There are many flat sections along the 10.3 km course between Matsuwa, Minamishitaura Town, Miura City and the Miyagawa-cho bus stop, but you you'll need non-slip shoes for hiking the rocky shore. Also, when advisories for high waves, flood tides, and surges are in effect, you shouldn't hike there as it's dangerous.
  • Ohayashi Trail
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Kanagawa Ashigarashimo-gun Manazurumachi

It's protected as a fish preserve forest and a prefectural natural park. This trail extends eastward from the Nakagawa Art Museum towards the cape. It is about 300 meters long and there is a small bird watching hut along the way.
  • Makuyama Hiking Course
    Leisure / Hobbies
    Kanagawa Ashigarashimo-gun Yugawaramachi
A hiking course for beginners that takes you through Makuyama Park and up 626-meter Mt. Maku. One highlight is the beautiful sight of 4,000 plum trees in Makuyama Park that start blooming in February. The view is like looking down on a red and white carpet. There are also cherry blossoms to enjoy during the springtime. The view of Sagami Bay and Manazuru Peninsula from the summit of Mt. Maku is great too.
  • Tenshozan Hiking Course

    Kanagawa Ashigarashimo-gun Yugawara Machi Miyakami
Reach the start of this hiking course by taking a 16-minute bus ride from Yugawara Station to the Oku-Yugawara bus stop. The trail will bring up Mt. Tensho before reaching a station. The red maple trees in Yugawara are beautiful in autumn, and the Oku-Yugawara area in particular is a great place to see them while listening to the quiet murmuring of the river. There are powerful waterfalls like Hakuun Falls and Fudo Falls, and there is a day-use hot spring along the way to ease your fatigue away.

"This hiking course for good walkers starts from Yugawara Station and climbs Mt. Shiroyama. It covers about 13.6 kilometers and takes about 230 minutes to hike. Along the way, there are numerous ""power spots,"" places thought to have mystical or healing earth energy. These include Seiganji Temple with its huge Chinese juniper tree; Gosho Shrine, which is famous for its large ginkgo and camphor trees; and a cave that it's said Yoritomo hid in while being pursued. Mt. Shiroyama's summit has a magnificent view of the azure of Sagami Bay below with the islands of Izu in the distance."

Kanagawa Areas

around-area-map

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo’s most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
