This is a vast playground covering an area of about 100,000 square meters which is located in Aoba Ward in Yokohama City. It was used as an ammunition warehouse for the period of the wartime through to the post-war period, but was opened as a garden on the 5th May 1965 in commemoration of the marriage of the Crown Prince (the current Emperor) and Michiko. There is a zoo, a pool and leisure facilities with a lot of playground equipment, and a lot of children visit with their parents. There is also a livestock farm managed by Snow Brand—the special Sungreen milk and icecream are specialty products.

Visit this park in any season and kids will love it. Lots of play areas for kids. Farm animals can be seen and fed by small kids. Huge park. Also perfect for picnics and campings.

A metropolitan park filled with the abundant natural beauty of the Tama Hills area a 10-minute walk from Tamasakai Station on the Keio Line. There are four untouched valleys in the park, each of which has a spring which flows into the Tama River. These areas are conservation lands which are habitats for rare plant and animal species not often seen in this day and age (access to some areas is prohibited). The One Ryokudo, covered by the cooling shade of trees in summer, was originally a road built for tank training and performance testing at the close of WWII. Today, the road is lined with cherry trees which come into beautiful bloom in spring and serves as a space for rest and relaxation for local residents.

Historic ruins in the hills to the north of the Machida City area. An excavation as conducted in 1967 and 1968 along with the construction of the Fujinodai Housing Complex. It discovered the remains of four dwellings from the early Jomon period and seven from the middle Yayoi period. The highly valuable compound archaeological site covering both eras has been registered as a municipal Historical Site. Occupying a relatively narrow ridge in the Tama Hills, it is currently an archeological park, and many people visit it along with the adjacent Machida City Museum. The Jomon and Yayoi period dwellings have been restored one by one, and visitors are free to enter.

This green park is located in a green hilly area in the northwestern part of Machida City. It has thickly wooded areas that include konara glandbearing oak, sawtooth oak and shirakashi ring-cupped oak, a grassy athletic plaza where you can play ball, and a small baseball field where you can play soft baseball. There are many spots in the park that still retain the original landscape of Tama Hills, and many visitors enjoy light hiking and excursions in the park. From Miharashi Square with an elevation of 123 meters, you can look out at the scenery, the panoramic view encompasses from Tanzawa to the Tama Hills, and you can get a clear view of Mt. Fuji on good days.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
