A Shinto shrine located in Sumida Park in Mukojima, Sumida City, Tokyo. The shrine was built in 860 to enshrine the god Susanoo no Mikoto. Today there are three principal deities enshrined in the shrine. It is believed that if you are sick, rubbing the same spot on the Nade-ushi (rubbing cow) statue on the shrine's grounds as the affected part of your body will cure your illness. On the final day of the shrine's annual festival in September, local neighborhood associations parade around with portable shrines and bring them onto the shrine grounds.

Loved the combination of the nature walk yo the shrine, the interesting gifts to the Emperor along the way, the wooden doors at the temple/ shrine. Was all very tasteful and beautiful.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
