    Tokyo Taitou-ku Uenokouen 4-59
A formal restaurant founded in 1875 serving traditional kaiseki course cuisine located inside Ueno Park. The restaurant's striking interior is reminiscent of an old-fashioned Japanese home; its huge windows, encompassing whole walls, allow patrons to observe the changing of the seasons. Innsyoutei primarily serves bean and vegetable-based cuisine made with a colorful variety of ingredients. All of the restaurant's soybean dishes are handmade with 100% domestically produced soybeans ordered just for that day. Innsyoutei accepts reservations of parties from two to 80 people. The restaurant is perfect for a variety of functions, from entertaining an important business client to celebrating a special event.

We visited here with a Japanese friend and her parents. They made reservations as its always busy. Our table was upstairs, so we had a lovely view, even if the maples hadnt quite turned red at that...

    Tokyo Chuou-ku Tsukishima 3-16-9
A seafood monjayaki savory fried batter restaurant located a four minute walk from exit number 10 of Tsukishima Station. People love the flavor of the dashi broth Moheji uses in its monjayaki, made with eight varieties of seafood. Particularly recommended are the mentaiko walleye pollack, mochi rice cake, and cheese monjayaki. All of the restaurant's seafood is brought in daily from Tsukiji Market, and Moheji also serves seafood teppanyaki. The seafood garlic rice is made by sauteing rice with fragrant garlic and flavorful seafood on the griddle embedded in your table; it goes great with a cup of sake.

    月島もんじゃの人気店です。ただ、駅から離れているからか、他の店に比べると少し空いていました。一人で行きましたが、さすがに多かったです。味はよくて、いい思い出になりました。

This long-standing tempura restaurant situated in front of the Kaminarimon gate in Asakusa is the oldest in Japan. Founded in 1837, the shop has been in operation for over 170 years. San-Sada’s famous Edo-mae tempura is distinguished by the rich aroma and tawny color of the batter created by using sesame oil for frying. The shop uses its own unique sesame oil blend to fry only the freshest ingredients. Visited by countless numbers of tourists both domestic and international, San-Sada also offers a full menu of options for groups. In addition, the restaurant serves daily limited number sets and bento boxes for children. Lastly, San-Sada is also happy to discuss budget-appropriate options for parties and gatherings.
  • Wa-kitchen Kanna

    Tokyo Setagaya-ku Shimouma 2-43-112F
This Japanese style restaurant, open since 2013, is in a quiet residential neighborhood near Setagaya Park. The quiet, spacious interior is perfect for long, relaxing meals. Their most popular item is the fluffy kakigori shaved ice made with ice from Nikko's Shougetsuhimuro. They top it with original sauces, and seasonal Japanese ingredients, and offer only items to make customers feel the deliciousness. They also make sure the appearance is cute, to please the eye as well as the palate. Our recommendation is the Tiramisu made with loads of mascarpone, and the mellow, Japanese style sweetness of Rich Purple Sweet Potato Milk.

    Tokyo Bunkyou-ku Nedu 2-12-15
Located in a building in the Nezu part of Tokyo’s Bunkyo City that is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, this is an unusual spot to enjoy kushi-age (fried food on skewers) using plentiful servings of seasonal tastes. The restaurant, which is in an old three-story wooden house that survived the Great Kanto Earthquake, welcomes you with a very nostalgic atmosphere that is purely Japanese. Beginning with the “starter set” that features six types of kushi-age including carefully selected meat, fish, and vegetables and two types of shusai (appetizers to go with drinks), you can order an additional set or just one skewer at a time. There are also private dining rooms available for extra charge.

Love this place and try to visit every time Im n Tokyo. For a while it was closed but was pleasantly surprised when it re-opened. The lunch menu revolves around kushiage which is different items...

At that time, the Shimotani area was the Hanayanagi district, and until around 1955 (Showa 30), it was a popular restaurant offering Western-style meals in a tatami room with dancing geisha. • Ginza Ukai-tei
    Gourmet / Alcohol
    Tokyo Chuou-ku Ginza 5-15-8 Newsletter Building 1F
A high class teppanyaki restaurant located on the first floor of the Jiji Press Building in Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo. The theme of the restaurant's decor is Japan's Westernization movement during the Meiji period; opening the restaurant doors, your eyes will be drawn to a large painting of an elegant woman in retro-modern style. The Japanese architecture mixing the modern with nostalgia and the antique works of Western art create dining spaces that tell stories. The main dining area is a deep sea-themed circular counter. Along with their meal, diners can enjoy the magnificent technique of their chef. Ginza Ukai-tei serves creative teppanyaki cuisine made with select Kuroge Japanese Black beef and seasonal seafood and other ingredients singled out by the head chef.

A restaurant specializing in goosefish cuisine located a five-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station and Kanda Station. This history-leaden restaurant was established at the end of the Edo period in 1830. Originally opened as a loach restaurant close to what is now Kyobashi 3 Chome, since the modern Taisho period this establishment has been beloved as the only dedicated goosefish restaurant in Tokyo. The old-fashioned and imposing restaurant building itself has been designated a Historic Building by the Tokyo government. In addition to the main dining area, the restaurant has relaxing private dining rooms where you can savor anko nabe, a flavorful hotpot steeped in tradition made with only the freshest goosefish from the Kazamaura Sea.

It was the first time for me to try monkfish. We enjoyed it with various cooking styles and they were all good. We also liked their old, traditional building.

    Tokyo Taito-ku Asakusa 3-12-6
Negima nabe is a one-pot dish made with leeks and tuna toro, and was invented in the Edo period (1603-1867) to make use of toro that was not suitable for marinating in soy sauce. At Asakusa Shuzen Ichibun Honten, Negimanabe is served with bigeye tuna or tuna kamatoro (fatty tuna) stewed in a pot. Kamatoro has a characteristic of being stringy, which makes it difficult for the fat to drain off as it is stewed, allowing the broth to soak in thoroughly. In addition, plenty of Edo vegetables are used, especially Senju leeks, which do not easily fall apart when cooked.

This place, in an old wood house, is perfect to discover a refined and delicious Japanese food. Octopus and Wagyu beef were perfect.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
