This retro-cafe is in Koenji. The atmosphere of this shop, long loved by locals, is preserved just like it was at its founding, and it attracts many intellectuals. The menu is almost all house-original, and their vegetable, keema and coconut curries are particularly popular. All their dishes, from the Pasta Napolitan to their cakes and desserts, and carefully made with select ingredients. Their brewed-to-order tea and coffee are all high quality. They are open till midnight every day of the year.

Shiroikuro uses high-quality Tamba black beans in their desserts and tea. Their Japanese desserts are great to bring home or give as a gift. Their famous black bean salt daifuku uses freshly pounded rice mochi and large salted black beans. These daifuku are filled with slightly sweet red-adzuki beans and cut with salted black beans which really brings out the Japanese flavors.

    Tokyo Chuo-ku Nihonbashi Muromachi 1-6-7
This long-established coffee shop has searched for tastes that suit the sensibilities of Japanese since it opened in 1948, when coffee beans were considered valuable. Their mocha soft-serve ice cream is specialty of the shop that has a flavor that has remained the same for decades. The balance between sweet and bitter is superb, and the smooth ice cream has a taste that you could never grow tired of. The first floor of the store is a standing area that has no chairs. When it opened, it is said that it was started to reduce costs in a way created from thinking about how to provide expensive coffee at a low price.

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
