    Tokyo Shinjuku-ku Nishishinjuku 1-2-6
This historic cafe has preserved its history and heritage in Shinjuku for over 50 years, since its founding in 1964 as a 'quintessential cafe'. Their coffee beans are discriminatingly selected from around the world, roasted, and milled right before flannel-dripping the grounds into a rich brewed cup of coffee. In addition to the standard original blend, if unusual beans come in, they are offered as the roast of the month. Tajimaya Coffee also serves light meals and sweets. Open until 23:00, it is an ideal night cafe spot.

    Tokyo Toshima-ku Zoushigaya 2-8-6
This is a cafe popular for its in-house roasted coffee and desserts, located in Zoshigaya. One can enjoy the homemade sweets, and a serious cup of syphon brewed coffee from their carefully selected beans. The reason the store contains fishing tools in its name is because the owner sells old reels and handmade lures online. The actual storefront store also sells coffee beans and coffee accouterments. The weekly special coffee changes every weekend, and there are many seasonally limited items, making it always refreshing to return to the store. The food menu offerings, including the sausage plate, or the open-face sandwich are popular also.

Particularly popular menu choices include the lightly spicy Bowls Curry, served in a bowl; and the Gratin Plate; both are sure to fill you up even on their own. The cafe's colorful lunch specials come with a side dish, small dessert, and beverage. The cafe's desserts are all homemade. The cafe's coffees are hand dripped one at a time to order.

    Tokyo Taitou-ku Asakusa 2-4-2
This cafe on Asakusa's Rokku-dori Street has a striking appearance, with a red tent and glass. With a comfortable space like a cafe in Paris, you can go there from seven in the morning. It has an offering covering from morning to teatime, with a morning menu including croque monsieur and salads, a lunch menu with hayashi (Japanese-style beef stew) rice and galettes, and dessert menu with matcha ice cream and pancakes topped with chunky red bean paste. It also has a wine menu and a wide variety of barrel hard ciders which can be enjoyed together with snacks such as assorted cheese, olives and pickles.

What a disappointment ! Had high expectation, but the only good thing here is the wine, which they do not produce. The French Garrett they serve was the worst I ever had. It came with a huge salad...

Cafe and restaurant in Jingumae, Shibuya City. Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere in a refreshingly designed restaurant. Try their popular soft-thin pancakes, or their thick fluffy souffle pancakes made from ricotta cheese. Or if you want something savory from their fashionable menu, try their risotto and keema curry, sandwiches, or eggs benedict.

We were surprised to find no one in line at 9:30am on a Saturday (they open at 10:00am). We’d tried fluffy pancakes in Kyoto, but enjoyed these ones more. The cream they put on the side was so good...

Cuban restaurant from New York. Look for the freshly painted blue storefront and yellow interior decorated with Latin art and motifs of important figures such as Che Guevara. Try their menu of Cuban foods, rarely seen in Japan, such as their popular grilled corn, slowly grilled whole corn with cheese, and roast pork Cuban sandwich.

There are better Cuban alternatives in Tokyo - this one’s a real stinker. Where to begin? They charge a “seat fee” - and the place was almost completely deserted! The place reeked of cigarette smoke...

One of the most disappointing venues Ive ever been to. This was pure style over substance. Yes the tree house effect is beautiful. The flower shop is lovely and the way top the stairs is very pretty...

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
