    This is a theater that conducts performance of rakugo (Japanese comedic storytelling) year-round. In addition to rakugo, there are also programs that include manzai (two-person comedy acts), skits and imitations. After opening in 1964, it gained popularity as a hall for comedy and famous artists such as Kinichi Hagimoto, “Beat” Takeshi and Kiyoshi Atsumi often performed there. Although there is a daytime part and a night-time part, there is no restriction on choosing one or the other so visitors can watch for the entire day. There is also a shop that sells bento lunch boxes, drinks and other merchandise. Tickets are only available for purchase on the day of the show.

Instead of just merely watching, guests can also take pictures as if they were characters appearing in the strange pictures. This is a popular spot for families and groups of friends.

    When we arrived we were given a presentation and explanation of how we would do to experience 3d effect. We had a nice hour with lots of laughs. And lots of fun pictures to show when we got home...

Tickets can be purchased at the theater as well as over the Internet and via major ticket agencies. Group tickets are available for parties of five people or larger. The merchandise shop located in front of the theater sells unique Yoshimoto products and goods found nowhere else.
