- A city planning park located in 2-Chome Nishishinjuku which is the largest park established by Shinjuku Ward. Surrounded by towering high-rises, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the lush park is known to many as an oasis in the middle of the big city. Seasonal flowers and small creatures can be seen on the grounds, and the park is the perfect place to go nature watching or take a leisurely walk. Events such as flea markets are held in the park on weekends and holidays, and many parents come with their children to enjoy a water play pool open each year from mid-July to early September.

- Tokyo Bunkyou-ku Honkomagome 6
- Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu, who served the shogunate as a Tairo-kaku (“Great Elder”) during the era of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the fifth-generation Tokugawa shogun, created this garden in an area full of daimyo residences. With its undulating paths and well-planned design, the Japanese garden is particularly famous for its azaleas and weeping sakura close to the garden entrance. The gardens are lit up at night during the spring when cherry blossoms are in bloom and again in autumn when the foliage is turning colors. The garden evokes scenery of Kishu (in Wakayama) with the middle Daisensui Pond and its Nakanoshima Island. Many foreign tourists enjoy visiting Rikugien.
-
Located in the Rikugien Garden, this was a perfect little stop to sit, rest and rejuvenate. While I loved the garden this tea house was a great break with a beautiful view. It was a little crowded...

- Tokyo Minato-ku Akasaka 9-7-6 Tokyo Midtown/Garden
- Located in Tokyo Midtown, a multi-purpose complex directly connected to Roppongi Station, this museum holds exhibitions about design. Unlike traditional museums it was created to “think about daily articles from a design perspective, create objects and propose new ideas.” It is mainly host to organized exhibitions but also features talks and other events. The architecture of the building was designed by Tadao Ando and makes for a very unique exterior, such as with its roof made of one folded iron plate.

Incredible architecture with great design exhibit. Highly recommend for design enthusiasts. Park is also lovely. Limited but well curated gift shop.

In addition to hosting matches for volleyball, futsal, handball, and basketball, it is often used for events such as concerts and martial arts tournaments.
-
Always a marvellous-looking building, its a bit hard to see in all its glory at the moment as its being redeveloped in time for the 2020 Olympic Games. At that time I expect it to look fantastic.

Tokyo Areas
The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
