- Kitanomaru Park
-
- Tokyo Chiyoda-ku Kitanomarukouen 1-1
- Kitanomaru Park is a public park located just to the north of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo; it was repurposed as a forest park in the 1960s. The name “Kitanomaru” derives from the fact that this area was originally the Kita-no-maru (North Bailey) of Edo Castle during the Edo period. Besides its beautiful lawns, ponds and trees, the Park also features two gates that were formerly part of Edo Castle—the Tayasu-mon Gate and the Shimizu-mon Gate—so that the Park gives a rough impression of what Edo Castle looked like in its heyday. Kitanomaru Park is renowned for its spectacular cherry blossoms in spring and its beautiful autumnal foliage in autumn.

What is Tokyo?
The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. Itâs hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the worldâs tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether youâre in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
