  • Kashiwa Nibangai
    Shopping
    Chiba Kashiwa-shi Kashiwa 1-4-5
"This shopping arcade, the only fully covered one in Chiba Prefecture, extends out from the east exit of JR Kashiwa Station. Under the catchphrase, ""the most interesting and exciting shopping arcade in Kashiwa,"" the arcade is lined with a variety of establishments, from nationwide stores to a supermarket and privately-owned shops. There are many leisure destinations, as well, including fun places to shop and a karaoke parlor, and on weekends and holidays the arcade bustles with young people and others. The arcade regularly holds parades, art exhibitions, and other events, and the entire arcade is filled with liveliness and energy."
  • Heart Kashiwa Geihinkan Dining Cafe
    Gourmet / Alcohol
Chiba Kashiwa-shi Kashiwa 233 Heart Kashiwa State Guest House 2F
This cafe is located inside the Heart Kashiwa Geihinkan north of the Kashiwa City Hall on the former Mito Kaido. On the outside, the building looks like the estate of a European noble; inside, antique-style furniture and chandeliers exude a conspicuously extravagant atmosphere. The cafe serves seasonal lunch courses and a vegetable curry made with local Kashiwa ingredients. The cafe's lunchtime Wagon Sweets course, which comes with a cup of black tea or coffee, is also popular. Prices are also reasonable, making this a great place to enjoy a stylish little lunch.
  • Kashiwa Planetarium
    Leisure / Hobbies
Chiba Kashiwa-shi Kashiwa 5-8-12 Kashiwa Municipal Library Motodate 2F
This domed planetarium is located on the second floor of the Kashiwa City Library. Planetarium shows are held on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month as well as the following Sundays, and entry is free. Show themes change monthly, and the stars and accompanying programs showed vary accordingly. The planetarium is notable for its homemade, home crafted approach. The cityscape at the base of the planetarium dome is made of paper cutouts and the movement of the projected stars is also operated manually. Program narration is provided entirely live by staff. The appeal of this is the adlib nature of the narration, which may use less complicated language when there are many children in the audience and, conversely, increase the amount of technical language when there are many knowledgeable people watching the show.

Chiba Areas

around-area-map

The Boso Peninsula forms the main body of Chiba prefecture, and this is where you’ll find its endless warm water beaches and jagged mountains. Further inland, Narita - most famous as the home of Narita Airport - is a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings. Chiba prefecture is also home to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
