"A three-minute drive from the Kisarazu-Kaneda Interchange on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, here you can experience ""sudate,"" a traditional fixed shore net fishing technique which has been practiced in Tokyo Bay for ages. Sudate fishing is offered from around April to August each year. The fish you can catch varies by time of year, and you can have what you catch prepared for you on the spot to eat. The company which operates the tours takes particular pride in its sashimi; tempura; and its kamameshi rice with Japanese littleneck clam and vegetables. For those who don't mind going with strangers, the company accepts reservations for parties as small as one person, while private tours can be reserved for groups of 10 or more."

This hands-on learning facility provides information on forestry and the opportunity to spend time in the woods getting close to nature. It's near the site of Kururi Castle heading south on National Route 410 from JR Kururi Station. You can join woodworking programs with dedicated machinery in their practical training room. The lobby has an exhibit with traditional toothpicks and armor worn during the Kururi Castle Festival. Their eatery serves chiffon cake and dishes made with wild game. Walk down the promenade to the arbor and take in the seasons with rhododendrons in spring and colorful foliage in fall.

"A 10-minute drive from JR Sodegaura Station, here you can experience ""sudate,"" a traditional fishing technique in which a large trap is set up offshore which catches fish that wander in. Participants board a pleasure boat at the embarkation area at low tide and, after being taken to a sudate trap, get in the water to catch fish using hand nets. The fish you can catch varies daily and can include righteye flounder, Japanese sea perch, striped mullet, kuruma prawn, Asian paddle crab, and, if you're lucky, maybe even sea bream. You can have the seafood you catch prepared in different ways such as tempura and nizakana-style simmered in soy sauce and sugar, and you can also take your catch home."

Chiba Areas

The Boso Peninsula forms the main body of Chiba prefecture, and this is where you’ll find its endless warm water beaches and jagged mountains. Further inland, Narita - most famous as the home of Narita Airport - is a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings. Chiba prefecture is also home to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
