  • Okinoshima Beach

    The marine environment around this beach in Minami Boso Quasi-National Park is known as the northernmost extent of coral’s range. The reef stretches from the shore to Okinoshima Island. Because the sea is shallow, and the waves are calm, it is ideal for swimming, having fun on the beach, beach combing, and fishing. It is incredibly popular with people of all ages, and families in particular. A beachside clubhouse opens during the swimming season when it’s packed with beach goers. Because the sea water is very clear and clean, you can also enjoy snorkeling.
  • Haraoka Beach

    This beach is popular for being shallow and its quiet, beautiful sand, making it a place bustling with many beachgoers in the summer. Besides views of Cape Taibu-misaki on the left side of the beach, you can see the Haraoka Pier from the center of the beach. In addition, it is also known as a place where you can see the Diamond Fuji phenomenon with the evening sun sets into the summit of Mt. Fuji twice a year in May and early August.
  • Minami Chikura Beach

    Minami Chikura Beach is located in Chikura Town, Minamiboso City, on the eastern side of the Boso Peninsula. The magnificent emerald-green color of the sunlit sea and the beautiful fine sand on the beach are reminiscent of the South Pacific. In the summer months (July and August), there are beach huts on the beach, and there are lifeguards too, so visitors can enjoy swimming in safety. Minami Chikura Beach is famous for its beautiful sunrise and sunsets, and for the glorious views of the stars at night, making it a consistently popular place for dating couples to visit. Please note that camping, barbecuing, and the use of jet-skis, surfboards and body-boards are prohibited.
  • Hojo Beach

    This beach has the longest coastline in Tateyama City. Because it has good access located close to Tateyama Station and is shallow with quiet waves, it is popular mainly with families. Known as a popular spot for its scenery, it was chosen as one of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's 100 best views of Mt. Fuji in the Kanto region. It also holds a firework display and a flamenco festival, and it bustles with visitors all year.
  • Wadaura Beach

    This beach with white sand mixed with shells and very clear water is characterized by its coast lined with pine trees. While enjoying bathing at the beach, you can also gather crabs and small fish along the rocky areas. With public bathrooms, showers and changing rooms, it is visited by many beachgoers since you can eat whale dishes from Wadaura in restaurants nearby.
  • Hasama Beach

    Located approximately 15 kilometers (ordinary time around 30 minutes) from the Futtsu Tateyama Highway Tomiura Interchange, this 100m x 200m beach is right in front of the national resort Kyukamura Tateyama. The shore shelf slopes gently away covered by remarkably clear waters, making it ideal for family and seashore activities. There is a children’s pool adjoining the resort that may be used for free. The public beach house, operating from mid-July to mid-August is equipped with two toilets, one shower, and a changing facility.
  • Hojo Beach

    This is the largest beach within the city, and is just a 5-minute walk from the JR Tateyama Station. Many visitors throng to this beach located towards the back of Tateyama Bay, which is also called Kagamigaura because of its gentle waves. During the swim season, public showers, changing rooms and toilets are available, and beach clubhouses are erected for the visitors. The fireworks festival is always one of the biggest events of the year. On a clear day Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance, making this a good spot for viewing sunsets. It has been selected as one of Japan's Top Sunset Views.
  • Iwai Beach

    This approx. three kilometer long swimming beach is Boso’s most popular. With its shallow shoals and mild waves, it’s also used for seaside schooling and lodging. During the swimming season, there are events like watermelon-busting, treasure hunts and fireworks shows perfect for family trips. The scenery, with the contrast between curved beach, green mountains and sparkling blue water, is gorgeous, and sunset here is well worth seeing.
  • Hota Beach

    It is one of the five beaches in Kyonan Town, and although the entire beach is sandy, there are some rocky areas suitable for underwater observation. In 1889, Soseki Natsume visited the area and enjoyed swimming in the sea, as recorded in his diary.
  • Katsuyama Beach

    One of the five beaches in Kyonan Town, the beach is wide, shallow, and calm, attracting many bathers with their families. On the left side of the beach are Misagojima and Ukishima islands, as well as an embankment, which are popular fishing spots.
  • Setohama Beach

    This swimming beach is located in Chikura-cho, Minamiboso City. The beach is around 200 meters long and a breakwater has been built in its center. A great destination for families, in addition to shallow, sandy beach areas, there are also rocky areas where you can have fun gathering crabs and other shellfish. During swimming season, lookout posts are permanently stationed by lifeguards during the day. The beach also has a clubhouse which sells light meals. There are two lookout posts, one of which is also outfitted with toilets. In addition, there are also free showers in the toilet building.
