Located inside the Kiryugaoka Park in Miyamoto Town, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, this municipal zoo, situated on a natural hillside, nurtures over 100 different varieties of animals including the popular giraffes, lions, and kangaroos. Entrance is free for all, so that families are able to get their fill of fun for as long as they wish. The Kiryugaoka Park is also a well-known spot for seasonal cherry blossom viewing.

"This museum is located in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture, approximately 20 minutes' walk from the Tobu Isesaki Line's Tatara Station. It primarily collects works by artists such as François Pompon's ""L'Ours Blanc"" and Yoshio Fujimaki's ""Jonuma no Fuyu"" that help provide an understanding of modern contemporary art and progress made. Among the works collected here, there are exhibitions being held in four exhibition rooms on the theme of nature and humanity. There are also various events held in the auditorium and workshop rooms, and a restaurant and shop located inside the museum."

The drive to Tatebayashi was filled with a tinge of uncertainty. Originally, a friend and I decided to visit the museum for their latest featured exhibition on Egyptian art. But once we rounded the...

This is the only research and exhibition facility in Japan which specializes in snakes. It is located approximately 10 minutes' walk from the Tobu Kiryu Line's Yabuzuka Station. Its main purpose is the research and uses of venomous snakes, and in the Venomous Snake Terrarium, visitors can see King Cobras, Rattlesnakes and other snakes from around the world. In the Orochi Terrarium, large snakes such as the yellow anaconda and alligator snapping turtles are on display. Viper venom extraction demonstrations are held on weekends and national holidays in the Antivenom Room.

In a remote-ish part of Gunma, the snake center is very interesting to visit. Foreign tourists will probably not want to visit, as it takes a while to get to, but its fun. Its a little old, but you...

Visitors learn about insects up close on the expansive grounds of this experiential education facility that replicates the Japanese countryside in the Niisato area of Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. In environments that closely resembles the insects’ natural habitats such as woods, rice fields, and brooks, visitors observe varieties like butterflies and beetles.

"This theme park is located 10 minutes’ walk from the Tobu Ryomo Line’s Yabuzuka Station. It was based on the artist Saho Sasazawa’s historical play, ""Kogarashi Monjiro"". The park recreates the lead character, Jiro’s hometown of Mikazukimura, Nitta County, Joshu, and the scenery with its fire lookout towers and water mills is just as it would have been in the Edo Period. There are also attractions which can be enjoyed by people too young to know what they are, such as the House of Tricks with complicated mechanisms in each room, and the Kaigendo, in which visitors explore the dark underground."

"This art museum is located 8 minutes by foot from the Jomo Line's Nishi-Kiryu Station, or alternatively, 10 minutes by taxi from Shin-Kiryu Station. The museum displays works collected by Eiji Okawa, a local of Kiryu City. Visitors can appreciate a variety of paintings, mainly consisting of works of art from the Meiji and Taisho periods, and including Eisaku Wada's landscape painting ""Matsushima Godaido"" and Takeji Fujishima's ""Mosha"". There are also a great number of Shunsuke Matsumoto's works and materials, which were the first works to be included in this collection. The museum aims to be a place where ""you can see the masterpieces you want to see, whenever you want to see them"", and as such, has sofas positioned in each of the exhibition rooms. It is designed so that visitors can take their time."

This art museum is along the Togoku Bunka Rekishi Road in Azumacho-Kusagi, Midori City. In this museum, which opened in 1991, you’ll find exhibitions featuring the works of Tomihiro Hoshino, a local painter and poet. The square building has a unique interior divided into 33 cylindrical rooms, which are used as exhibition rooms, video rooms, a shop, a cafe, and more. Around the building is a walkway that offers a view of the Kusagi lakeside scenery.

It was built in commemoration of Chiaki Mukai, an astronaut from Tatebayashi City. Its permanent exhibits cover a range of subjects from local nature to the universe. There are also many astronomical observation exhibits, science shows and events, such as a contemporary digital planetarium and a Moon Walker experience where visitors can experience the gravity of the moon for themselves.

Approximately a 5-minute walk from the Omama Station on the Watarase Keikoku Railroad, this parlor theater is located within the Nagame Park, and is also accessible by disembarking at the Nagame Koen-mae bus stop. Built in 1937, the two-story wood structure hosted the trendy singers and popular theater groups peaking in prominence during the mid ‘40s and ‘50s. During its heydays, it was said that people would try to even get a glimpse of the show by hanging down through windows and climbing trees. Seating 650 altogether on the two floors, the theater can be toured or be reserved for events with advanced reservations.

This park about 25 minutes by car from Ota-Yabuzuka Interchange offers tranquility and a lush natural setting. Its facilities include a water park, a limestone cave, a wetland botanical garden, and a campground. The area offers more fun-filled activities than you could handle in a day. We especially recommend visiting the limestone cave. It was excavated starting in 1984. Four years later the 93-meter cave was incorporated into the park. It offers visitors a mysterious world full of adventure. The botanical garden at the exit of the cave has an array of flora that change with the seasons like wild grasses and flowers.
