This temple of the Soto sect of Buddhism is said to be the model for the folk tale “Bunbuku Chagama” (“The Bewitched Tea Kettle”). You can see the bunbuku chagama—located in one room of the main hall where the main statue of the historical buddha is adored. The main path presents visitors with about 20 statues of raccoon dogs with a variety of expressions. Around the temple, you’ll find the Morinji Marsh—designated as a Prefectural Natural Monument and protected as a natural habitat of marsh flora—where you can see Lucolia lateralis fireflies during the rainy season and in summer.

You need to get off at Morinjimae station(oen stop from Tatebayashi, Tobu Line toward Tokyo) then walk 10 minutes to reach there. This temple is famous for Bunbukuchagama, folktale which 100% Japanese...

"This temple is located approximately three minutes’ walk from Kichijoji Iriguchi bus stop, after taking the Kawaba loop bus from the JR Joetsu Line's Numata Station. This Zen temple of the Rinzai sect was opened in 1339 by Ujitoki Otomo of Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura as head temple. Due to its location as the northernmost Kencho-ji Temple, it is also known as the North Gate of Kencho-ji. The temple grounds are home to the Kichijo-ji Hundred Flower Gardens, also known as the ""Temple of Flowers"", with flower beds of Mizubasho flowering in the Spring and Higanbana flowering in the Autumn. Also, in the temple's tea room, Seitaian, visitors can enjoy seasonal sweets with Matcha green tea."

Take some time to wander the semi-wild garden paths in the gorgeous temple grounds. I just visited for the fourth time; it’s beautiful all year around, but if you get there in koyou time (autumn...

This Soto sect temple, known as “Sazae Hall”, is located approximately five minutes from Otakiryu Interchange on the Kita-Kanto Expressway. The temple is said to have originated with the Rokkaku-do, built in 1187. The main hall has been destroyed twice due to fires so currently, the “Sazae Hall”, built as a Buddhist temple, is used as the main hall. The Sazae Hall is an unusual building with a cloister and was certified as an Important Cultural Property of the prefecture in 1977. There are many hydrangeas planted in the precinct and the temple is called “Gunma Prefecture’s hydrangea Temple”. The best time to see the hydrangeas is from the beginning to the middle of June.

This Kannon Temple is located in Tsumagoi Village, Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture. It is believed to be the only remaining one in Kanbara Village since the great eruption of Mount Asama in 1783. Kanbara Village was completely covered by the eruption and has been called the Oriental Pompeii. In an excavation made in 1979, the remains of two women were found at the bottom of the stone steps. Materials of the period relating to the disaster are exhibited at the nearby Tsumagoi Folk Museum. The museum staff and preservation society also sometimes give talks about the history of the area. Even now, the Kuyo festival is held here every year.
