Osawaya is an udon noodle restaurant founded in 1970 that serves Mizusawa udon, which is one of the three major udon noodle dishes in Japan. The udon at Osawaya which is said to take two days and 27 processes to make is delicious with the chewy, transparent, and smooth character of Mizusawa udon noodles. The best way to enjoy this udon is chilled noodles served on a bamboo draining basket and this is offered on the menu all year around. It is an irresistible dish for udon lovers. The set menus such as the maitake mushroom tempura and boiled wild herbs with noodles are recommended. It is approximately 20 minutes by car from the Shibukawa-Ikaho Interchange on the Kan-Etsu Expressway.

This soba noodle shop is located on Prefectural Route 4 at Akagisan in Gunma Prefecture. It has a relaxed, Japanese-style atmosphere with a structure that gives it the feel of an elegant Japanese restaurant. They make their own noodles, mill their own flour, and even grow the buckwheat themselves. They use spring water for the soba, pumped up from 100 meters below ground. The noodles come in 180, 360, and 1,800-gram portions heaped on a large noodle tray so you can share with a number of people.

"This udon noodle restaurant, located in Ikaho Town, Kita-Gunma County, is the founder of ""Mizusawa Udon"", said to be one of Japan's three great udon noodle types. The restaurant boasts more than 400 years since establishment. The store has been featured frequently in the media and famous people also visit. No machines are used in the production process at all and the udon is handmade in the original way. The udon made with time and effort has shine and a chewy characteristic. The menu offers only “Umudon / Zaru”, enjoyed dipped in the secret sesame sauce."

You’ll find this teahouse along the Japan Romantic Road in Kusatsu, Kusatsu Town.

This Mizusawa Udon restaurant is at the foot of the mountain entrance to Mizusawa Kannon, Bando No. 16 station, located approximately 20 minutes from the Kan’etsu Expressway Shibukawa Ikaho Interchange. The udon, made with carefully selected flour, delicious water and no additives apart from salt, is characteristic for its thickness and strength. Most Recommended menu is Sanshu Mori Udon which you can taste three different kinds of Udon including this restaurant’s original Collagen Udon (Kinu no Sasayaki), Mizusawa Udon, and Maitake Mushrooms Udon at once. Souvenir set for home use is also very popular. The inside of the shop is completely barrier-free for easy-access, and guide dogs are also permitted.

I’ve never been a big fan of udon but this place changed my mind. The udon has a much better bite than other udon. The tempura was also quite good, especially if you like mushrooms.

This udon restaurant is located near the K's Denki Numata-ten store, approximately eight minutes' drive from Numata Interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway. This Japanese-style restaurant has a calm atmosphere and customers can look out its large windows to view the scenery of the river terrace. On its regular menu is the superbly tender Joshu beef, a brand of Gunma beef with a rich flavor in its sukiyaki udon, along with shrimp and maitake mushroom tempura, which comes as a set with Akagi Gozen and duck soup udon, made with duck meat from Poland. There is also a seasonal menu, which includes chilled himokawa udon and okkirikomi noodles which are often made at home. There are also classes available for groups who would like to experience making their own udon.

"This restaurant's famous silk udon is near to the World Heritage Tomioka Silk Mill. It uses a blend of wheat from Gunma Prefecture's Norin No. 61 and Hokkaido-produced wheat paired with silk protein solution from Tomioka Ainota's 100% natural cocoons to create silky smooth yet firm ""Cocoon Udon"" noodles, which go outstandingly well with tempura. These flat ""Okkirikomi"" noodles, made by mixing wheat with silk protein are a seasonal limited product, and are excellent with green onions, which are softer and sweeter in the colder seasons, and French duck in the restaurant's extremely popular autumn and winter-only Duck Kirikomi menu item."

"This small buckwheat noodle shop is on Prefectural Route 292 leading to Kusatsu Onsenkyo. The curtain outside the shop has a pattern that represents six old Japanese coins, the ""rokumonsen"" of their name. The rustic Japanese style interior has both table and tatami mat floor seating. They make the noodles themselves with locally produced flour and top-quality water. A la carte items include tempura on rice featuring locally grown maitake mushroom and cubed pork on rice. Their donburi rice dish meal sets are popular, too."

A handmade soba noodle restaurant located in Yoshioka Town, Kitagunma District, Gunma Prefecture. Specializing in making glossy, springy noodles, the restaurant's udon noodle dough has honey mixed into it. In addition to zaru udon and kake udon noodles, the restaurant serves reasonably priced okkirikomi, a hearty local Gunma Prefecture specialty consisting of udon noodles in a soup with plenty of vegetables and big chunks of kabocha squash. The restaurant also sells fresh handmade udon noodles for taking home as a gift or souvenir. Note that the restaurant may close early if supplies for the day run out due to popular demand.

The restaurant's noodles are made right up in the front using stone milled buckwheat flour. The restaurant's specialty is its hegi soba made with mountain spring water. Hegi soba is a Niigata specialty consisting of several portions of soba noodles served on a tray called a ""hegi"" and the restaurant offers a variety of sides to enjoy with its hegi soba such as vegetable tempura and a variety of dipping sauces. A curry udon restaurant located close to the “Miharashishita” bus stop, a 20 minute bus ride from Shibukawa Station. Osawaya, a company which produces Mizusawa udon noodles, launched an online shop in 2007 with the aim of introducing as many people as possible to delicious Mizusawa udon. Thereafter, Osawaya opened this curry noodle in the Shoku no Eki Ikaho food-themed mini shopping mall. The garamacha udon, a Japanese-style take on Kashmiri curry, is particularly recommended; you’ll never forget its tasty, spicy flavor. The uniquely fragrant spices of the restaurant’s Keema curry udon will tingle the tongue.

Udon Honmaru is a restaurant which is directly operated by a long-established dried noodle restaurant “Tatebayashi Udon” which has restored the taste of udon noodles passed on in Tatebayashi from the past. The udon noodles have such a good reputation that they were honored with a purchase by the Showa Emperor when he visited Tatebayashi for a National Athletics Meet in the past. The famous menu item is tempura udon noodles with deep fried catfish which is a well-known local dish. For customers who want to enjoy a lot of udon noodles, there is a tenzaru udon with three servings of udon noodles on a large plate. It also sells dried noodles as souvenirs. Musashi, dried noodles that weigh 634 grams, is a product named after Tokyo Skytree, which is 634 meters high.
