This local cuisine restaurant located in Nasu County, Tochigi Prefecture is where you can taste country cooking such as okowa (sticky rice mixed with vegetables or other ingredients), kenchin zoni (mochi with soup) and suiton (wheat flour dumpling soup) in a shop that is like a private house filled with nostalgia. The mochi glutinous rice without preservatives or additives is characterized by its stickiness and slight sweetness. It can also be used as a tea house or sweets shop to enjoy ankoro mochi (rice cake with bean paste) and ice cream using matcha green tea.

味は普通ですが、接客態度が最悪でした。Googleのレビューで他の人も書いていますが、本当に酷いです。箸を投げて渡されるわ、言葉の節々に見下したような言動が感じ取れる接客でした。

5年ほど前に一度利用して仕事で那須へ行く機会があったため再度訪れてみました。今回はすき煮善を頂きました。素材の味を感じられる料理屋さんが最近はないのでそれぞれの野菜の美味しさなどを感じる事が出来ました。お米も釜で炊いているためおこげの香ばしいさが最高に美味しかったです。

ランチの為に２名で訪問したが、「今いっぱいで無理です」との返事。店内外に待つ客はおらず、席は埋まっているものの、何時間もかけて食事をする店でもなく（メニューはラーメン、丼など）「〇分程待っていただければ」という返事を期待していたので、商売っ気のなさに驚く。ご縁がなかったのでしょう。

Chojiya is an eel restaurant with a history going back 300 years since its establishment and its storehouse has been designated as a Nasu Town Cultural Property. It uses fresh eel from a fishpond where the water is drawn from the Nara River, and the eel which is carefully grilled on charcoal has many fans. Booking is recommended before visiting on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Its menu items include unaju (rice topped with broiled eel and served in a box), grilled liver, deep fried bones and deep fried eel.

老舗らしく、常時混んでいるので昼時を少し外すと良いと思います。正直、格別では有りませんが普通に美味しいです。芦野地域で食事処に困ったら是非、お薦めです。

Tochigi Nasushiobara-shi Sekiya 442 Agri Pal Shiobara

This restaurant is located on the grounds of Roadside Station Yunoka Shiobara. Located in a corner of the Agripal Shiobara farmers' market, the restaurant serves handmade soba noodles, udon noodles, and side dishes made with fresh vegetables straight from the farm. Its dishes, made with buckwheat and wheat flour from specially contracted farms, are simple and have an old-fashioned, home cooked flavor. The restaurant's handmade yuzu miso is particularly popular and goes perfectly with furofuki boiled daikon and oden hotpot. The makigari nabeyaki Udon noodles, a local specialty, are made with an abundance of local vegetables; only served on Saturdays, they are also limited to just 10 customers a day.

塩原温泉へ向かう国道400号沿いの農産物直売所、喫茶店・おみやげ店、農村レストラン、パン屋などがある充実した道の駅。平日の訪問でしたが大混雑してました。軽くつまむものを買うつもりが、おにぎりやパンが美味しそうでたくさん買っちゃいました。すぐ隣の田んぼアートもお勧めです。今回は東京オリンピック延長のメッセージの田んぼアートを見れました。

Most visits to Tochigi revolve around Nikko, a small city home to the spectacular, lavishly decorated Toshogu Shrine and Nikko National Park with its mountains, lakes, waterfalls, onsen, and wild monkeys. Neighboring Oku-Nikko is an extension of the fantastic scenery famous for its autumn leaves, while Tochigi’s capital, Utsunomiya, is the only place in the world where you can find oya stone beautifully exhibited in temples and the Oya History Museum.
