The mochi glutinous rice without preservatives or additives is characterized by its stickiness and slight sweetness. It can also be used as a tea house or sweets shop to enjoy ankoro mochi (rice cake with bean paste) and ice cream using matcha green tea.

    This old shop was founded as an oil shop during the Edo period, but then went on to manufacture miso. They use domestically-produced soy beans to make their “aburaden miso” —naturally fermented in a traditional wooden barrel, with no additives, to produce a rich, aromatic taste. At the dengaku miso shop in the corner, you can try konnyaku dengaku, tofu dengaku, and sato-imo dengaku. The five buildings, including a Meiji-period storehouse, are designated as National Tangible Cultural Properties, as well as a charming fireplace in the back.

    何とも趣のある歴史を感じさせる建物でした。味噌田楽盛り合わせ(3本セットで550円）をいただきました。炭で時間をかけて焼いています。味の異なる味噌が3本それぞれにつけられています。 建屋の中も歴史そのもの。太い梁が何本も見られ、大正あるいは明治時代（？）の電話もそのまま。囲炉裏も。 歴史のある雰囲気に身をおきながら、落ち着いたひとときを過ごしました。

    遊覧船の乗り場になっているレストハウスです。春から秋のシーズンには、小学生の団体が乗り場周辺に溢れていますが、閑散期は静かです。

    This restaurant is located on the grounds of Roadside Station Yunoka Shiobara. Located in a corner of the Agripal Shiobara farmers' market, the restaurant serves handmade soba noodles, udon noodles, and side dishes made with fresh vegetables straight from the farm. Its dishes, made with buckwheat and wheat flour from specially contracted farms, are simple and have an old-fashioned, home cooked flavor. The restaurant's handmade yuzu miso is particularly popular and goes perfectly with furofuki boiled daikon and oden hotpot. The makigari nabeyaki Udon noodles, a local specialty, are made with an abundance of local vegetables; only served on Saturdays, they are also limited to just 10 customers a day.

    塩原温泉へ向かう国道400号沿いの農産物直売所、喫茶店・おみやげ店、農村レストラン、パン屋などがある充実した道の駅。 平日の訪問でしたが大混雑してました。 軽くつまむものを買うつもりが、おにぎりやパンが美味しそうでたくさん買っちゃいました。 すぐ隣の田んぼアートもお勧めです。今回は東京オリンピック延長のメッセージの田んぼアートを見れました。

    Located in front of Tobu Nikko Station, the gateway to Nikko, this restaurant has been serving handmade udon and soba noodles and yuba dishes using Nikko's delicious water and carefully selected ingredients since its establishment in 1903. The second-floor window overlooks the Tobu Nikko Station roundabout, so many tourists stop by while waiting for their trains.

    今回、初めてお邪魔しました。 鰻重特上3800円をいただきました。十分おいしかったです。 でも私的にはたれがちょっと薄くて物足りない感じでした。 鰻重3100円との差はで1/4分鰻が多く乗っているだけで、特上でなくてもいいかと思います。 店内もきれいで落ち着きます。 また伺います。

Most visits to Tochigi revolve around Nikko, a small city home to the spectacular, lavishly decorated Toshogu Shrine and Nikko National Park with its mountains, lakes, waterfalls, onsen, and wild monkeys.
