    The Nikko Kanaya Hotel gift shop sells lacquered deer leather goods and Ronnefeldt exquisite teas, as well as the “100 year curry pie”, in limited quantities. The curry was recreated after a curry recipe from the Taisho period was discovered in the Kanaya Hotel's warehouse in 2003. It is now a popular menu at the hotel's Craft Lounge. The “100 year curry pies” are freshly baked twice a day and are hot out of the oven at 10:00 and 14:00. It is a six minute drive from Nikko Interchange on the Nikko Utsunomiya Road.

    Aburagen sells lunch boxes using seasonal ingredients and special products of Tobu Nikko and Kinugawa River. The shop was established in 1859 as a shop selling station ekiben lunches and Japanese peppercorn. As well as selling standard and limited seasonal lunch packs and special products, lunches are also served. The Yuba Zukusi-zen set meal of seasonal produce and yuba is recommended. It is five minutes by car from JR Nikko Station.

    Kanaya Hotel Bakery opened in 1968 and offers a delicious new flavor while following the traditional technique from Kanaya Cottage Inn which opened in 1873. About 50 types of bread including plain bread and pastries are sold as well as cookies and cakes. Café La Saison has a café on the second floor and you can feel free to enjoy the cakes as well as the authentic taste.

    Unless you want a meal more suited for lunch avoid this place. The only item resembling a breakfast item was plain toast and cinimon toast. The coffee was very poor as well.

Established as a seasonal tableware and craft shop in 1976, the shop sells monaka wafer cakes modeled after the traditional local paper mache yellow kibune carp toys from Utsunomiya whose history stretches back to the Edo period. These cute wafer cakes are created using an original mold ordered from a famous and skilled mold maker who carved the model for it by hand using a single tool. Each set of five wafer cakes comes with one Kibunakko cake colored yellow with a pigment created after much trial and effort using cape jasmine.

Customers rave they are great for wedding after parties and other parties, as well as a stand-in for a birthday cake for people who don't like whipped cream. The shop's popular Sanomaru Sweets Monaka wafer cakes, modeled after 2013 Yuru-Chara Grand Prix-winning local mascot character Sanomaru-kun, are stuffed with a hearty helping of a filling made by hand from Hokkaido azuki beans. The cute appearance of the wafer cakes is particularly popular with women and children. The Karasawayama dorayaki pancake sandwiches, baked one at a time and filled with a handmade Hokkaido Dainagon azuki bean filling, also make delightful little presents.

Using eggs from the adjoining Ishikawa Sanchi no Tamago egg farm market, the restaurant serves dishes such as tamago kake gohan egg over rice, thick tamago Japanese omelets, a karaage teishoku set meal, and a hamburg steak set meal. The restaurant's vaunted eggs fill the mouth with a rich, full bodied flavor. The chickens which produce the eggs are given an original feed blend made with an eight percent fish meal base, delicious natural spring water, and three secret flavor-enhancing ingredients. The restaurant also offers a full array of bento box meals, including a deep-fried assortment bento, shogayaki ginger pork bento, and mackerel cooked in miso bento.

Most visits to Tochigi revolve around Nikko, a small city home to the spectacular, lavishly decorated Toshogu Shrine and Nikko National Park with its mountains, lakes, waterfalls, onsen, and wild monkeys. Neighboring Oku-Nikko is an extension of the fantastic scenery famous for its autumn leaves, while Tochigi’s capital, Utsunomiya, is the only place in the world where you can find oya stone beautifully exhibited in temples and the Oya History Museum.
