    Tsurugajo Castle is Japan’s only red roof tiled castle tower. It is a famous “impregnable” castle that endured a fierce battle lasting about a month during the Boshin war. It is a popular and famous cherry blossom viewing place when in the spring, about 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees are in full bloom. The exhibition room was completely renewed in 2015.

    This museum-and-café is a memorial for doctor Hideyo Noguchi, located in Nakamachi, Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. This black-walled, western-style warehouse was first built in 1884 and later renovated. The first floor is a café, and the second floor is a historical resources museum. Originally, it was the “Kyu-Kaiyo-in Hospital” where Hideyo underwent an operation for the hand he burned in childhood, and where he spent his adolescence later as a scholar. The museum displays a variety of documents relevant to Hideyo Noguchi.

    An art museum on the shore of Lake Numazawa surrounded by forest. On display are pictures and materials related to fairies primarily drawn from the collection of Imura Kimie, a scholar of English literature and known as the foremost scholar of fairy studies. This western-style building contains fairy picture books, literary materials regarding fairies, small tools and props depicting fairies, and more for you to explore. The six-meter tall stained-glass window within the museum was designed by character designer Amano Yoshitaka. There are also bronze statues showing the four seasons and painting of fairies on display.

    シェークスピアの「Mid Summer Night Dream」などに出てくる妖精に興味がある人には、特にお勧めの場所。 冬は雪で閉ざされるので春から秋にしかオープンしない隠れスポット。

    "This museum near the moat of Tsuruga Castle, exhibits the beautiful heritage collected from the Silk Road by land and sea . The exotic atmosphere of this brick building also has an art museum, coffee shop and tea room. The quaint building is made of recycled locally-produced stones from Keizan and Bandai, thick beams from kominka (old houses) and 30,000 fireproof bricks. About 300 items that tell the story of the Silk Road and ""Nanban culture"" (accepted aspects of Western culture excluding Christian elements) are on display. In the coffee shop, visitors can relax and enjoy pasta and hot sandwiches made with seasonal ingredients, as well as special charcoal-roasted coffee, while soaking up the atmosphere of the Silk Road."

    A forest park where you can explore the rich nature of Aizumisato Town. The plot is 7.53 hectars in size, located nearly 450-meters above sea level and features a study building, log cabin, trails, drinking fountains, and more. Within the forest you'll find the Futanuma no Ukishima,a vegetation lowland wetland that has been unaltered and declared a natural memorial of Fukushima Prefecture. In the swamp, preserved in the state it was discovered, you'll find rare flora and fauna which offer valuable learning opportunities including forest green tree frogs, scarlet dwarfs, and white egret flowers.     This unique museum stands at the entrance of Higashiyama Hot Spring, which is a retreat from Aizu Wakamatsu. The valuable heritage of Nepal, India and Tibet is displayed in the attic of the Tsuruitsutsu, the relocated residence of a large landowner. The collection of Nepalese and Tibetan artifacts centering on Kangi-ten (God of Bliss) is rare in Japan, and the 300 pieces including Buddhist statues and folk costumes are said to be very impressive. The interior of the kominka (old house), which looks like an ordinary house, is divided into three floors, and visitors can feel the mysterious connection between the Buddhist city of Aizu and Nepal, the birthplace of the Buddha.

    This is the largest tourism cherry farm in the Aizu area. You can go cherry-picking and blueberry-picking at this farm located about 10 minutes from the Aizu-Wakamatsu Interchange on the Ban-Etsu Expressway, and it also directly sells roasted chestnuts. Surrounded by rich nature, it features a variety of breeds such as Seiko Nishiki, Sato Nishiki and Nanyo. Many families come to pick all-you-can-eat cherries for 30 minutes. While no reservations are required, it may be crowded with many visitors and admission may be restricted on weekends, so it would be best to check in advance.

    Mt. Seaburi, which rises to the west of Lake Inawashiro, is an approximately 870-meter mountain that separates the Aizu Basin from Lake Inawashiro. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Mt. Aizu Bandai and Lake Inawashiro. Its distinctive name comes from the fact that in the past, locals who used to cross this mountain to go peddling or working in the mountains often bathed in the sun rising in the morning from the east and setting on their backs on their way home. The park has an athletic field and a campground in its vast 70-hectare grounds.

    A pottery studio of Aizu-hongo ware was founded in 2001 that has been making pieces sporting a modern youthful flair. The workshop is located in a remodeled kominka (old houses) and marked by its handmade signboard, and they produce simple and modern tableware that fits in with a modern lifestyle. The studio is known for their large number of works in the Konabiki style in which a white clay is layered over the base and then covered with a clear glaze. The beautiful gentle appearance, almost as though dusted with powder, is gaining popularity amongst women and young people. They also operate a cafe and gallery in a renovated warehouse just a short distance from the workshop.
