    A sake storehouse located in Nisshinmachi, Aizuwakamatsu City. A free tour is offered and visitors can see the actual storehouse area, exhibit room, and concert hall housed in traditional earthen wall storehouse. There’s a store selling limited edition sakes with a tasting corner; as well as a café housed in a storehouse built in 1892 which serves coffee brewed from the same water used for the sake, and chiffon cake made with daiginjo top quality sake.

    1時間に一度、説明をしていただきながら見物出来ます。説明は、わかりやすくて興味をもてます。 震災後の復興にも力をいれている酒蔵さんで、野口英世とも縁がある由緒ある家系です。 最後に、ショップで試飲もさせていただけます。 とても美味しかったです。

    "This venerable soy sauce and miso maker dates back to the Edo period. They've used all-natural local ingredients ever since their founding in 1755, making miso and soy sauce that can be eaten with peace of mind. The corner shop has a modern Western design that uses the same ornamental tiles as the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Behind it there are still eight old warehouses used to store materials and tools. The shop's flagship ""Wakaki Tennen Jozo Shoyu"" soy sauce is made from local soybeans fermented in wooden tanks and aged for two years. It offers a traditional aromatic flavoring for sushi and sashimi."

    A food shop and restaurant facility located in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture. In addition to a being able to buy over 40 varieties of ramen here, you can also eat ramen on-site in an old-fashioned area modeled after Japan's ramen street stalls of old. The facility also provides factory tours during which visitors can watch ramen being made-reservations only accepted weekdays.

    An old-fashioned liquor store located in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Affiliated with a long-standing sake brewery founded in 1794, the store sells local sakes made with Fukushima-grown rice and yeast. The shop carries a variety of sakes, such as sakes designed to be drunk during a meal characterized by their profound flavor and clean aftertaste. With an advance reservation, visitors can tour the sake brewery. The shop also always offers sake samples.

    "This sake brewery created the label Hoshi Masamune in 1919, and after the Second World War was revived with the release of Kita no Hana. It now bears the name of Kitakata's youngest brewery, a town which has long been known for its sake making traditions. The water is clean, clear spring water bubbling up from a bedrock aquifer fed from the Iide mountain range, which has supported sake brewing for some 500 years. Their junmai daiginjo, brewed using Fukushima's Yume Kobo yeast, is a soft, full flavored sake. Their primary goal with the name Kita no Hana is to evoke their community of Kitakata, a famous sake town, and to help bring a bit of joy to people's lives through the Hana character (meaning both ""flower"" and ""splendor"")."

    喜多方市の主催で、酒造り講座と言うのがあり、約半年間この酒蔵に通って、習いました。米を洗うところから始まって，麹の造り方や仕込みなど、全工程を学びます。 杜氏さんにはいろいろ教えて頂きました。 最後に出来上がった大吟醸に、自分で考えたラベルを張って持ち帰ります。 今まで飲んだ日本酒で一番美味しい酒でした。

    Fukushima Onuma-gun Aizumisatomachi Kawaracho Ko 1933
    A pottery studio located in Kawara-cho, Aizumisato Town, Onuma County, Fukushima Prefecture. The studio makes ryumon ware, a type of pottery unique to the Aizu area which features unrepeatable patterns created by glazes melting and flowing when the pottery is fired in a kiln. The studio offers free 20-minute tours and also displays and sells Ryumon ware and local specialty products.

    会津本郷陶磁器会館でいろいろな窯元の作品を見てからこの流紋焼窯元に行くことを決めました。寒色系の色調に惹かれます。特に緑色と紺色系の発色が素晴らしいです。しかもこちらは磁器になります。器と器が当たった時に金属系の高い音が出ます。釉ののり方も好きで、常に普段使いで器を求めるのでズバリ決まりです。工場内はすべてを見学でき、細やかな作品作りの精神が伝わってきました。

    A one-minute walk from the Aizu Bus Kogyodanchiiriguchi bus stop. This studio is the only one in the country which carries only wooden lacquerware. Aizu lacquerware developed in large part thanks to the Gamo Ujisato, lord of Aizu, supporting it as a local industry in 1590. The Aizu lacquerware industry fell into decline for a time after the Boshin War, but today this lacquerware studio continues to preserve the traditions of the craft while also promoting its evolution in line with the times. As the establishment sells its wares directly, visitors can purchase pieces such as lacquered soup bowls at low prices. The studio also offers a lacquerware repair service. In addition, the studio offers tours which enable participants to watch lacquerware artisans at work up close, and maki-e gold and silver lacquerware painting experiences in which participants can decorate and take home an exquisite piece of maki-e lacquerware the same day.

    This brewery is located about five minutes by car from Kitakata Station. Founded in 1717, it has operated for over 290 years in storehouse-district, Kitakata City, making it quite the established brewery. In addition to using spring water from Mt. Iide, they play classical music by Mozart throughout the process, from making the moromi (unrefined sake) to fermentation to create their famous “Music Sake.” In particular, their “Daiginjo Symphony Classic” won a special honors award in the Japan liquor contest in 2015—it features a mature, full taste with depth, and is very popular. They also offer free tours of the brewing process.

    A folk craft shop located in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. The shop's studio makes okiagari-koboshi (roly-poly dolls), said to be the oldest folk craft in the Aizu area, and the shop is filled with a great variety of okiagari-koboshi dolls with various expressions. The shop also offers doll painting courses and many families as well as students on field trips come here seeking souvenirs.

    "This sake brewery was established in 1877. In the Aizu region, surrounded by mountains and rich in nature, it continues to brew sake with care, avoiding mass production and mass sales. The water used for brewing is said to determine the taste, and they use natural spring water from the foot of Mt. Bandai and Mt. Iide, and clean well water from beneath the brewery. The rice used to make their sake, ""Kyo no Hana,"" is grown by local farmers. Many people enjoy their Honzojo Zuiho Tatsuizumi, which boasts a refreshing aftertaste, as a mid-meal drink."

    "This is the only kiln in Aizu Wakamatsu. It is said that in 1592, Ujisato Gamo, the lord of the Aizu domain at that time, invited a potter from Karatsu in Hizen (now Saga and Nagasaki Prefecture) to make roofing tiles for Tsuruga Castle and had him fire the tiles here. It is called ""Aizu Keizan ware"" and continues to make until today. After that, he fired melting pots for silver mines in Aizu Karuizawa (today's Yanaizu Town) and kiln flourished, but there is only one kiln at present. Pottery works made using a traditional potter's wheel or formed by hand, and pieces made with the ""tatara"" (slab-building) technique are well known for their natural beauty and warmth."

    "This sake brewery was founded in 1818. They are famous in Japan for being the first to make modern junmai sake and kicking off the nationwide boom. Their motto is ""Quality comes first,"" and they avoid following modernization and trends to focus on old fashioned methods to make the best sake they can. The story of how President Jimmy Carter praised their junmai on leaving Tokyo after his 1979 visit to Japan is still known today. In recent years, they have been working with farmers in designated areas to grow organic sake rice. They strive to create sake that evokes not only their care for rice, but the water and the local community as well."

    "Takashiba Deco-yashiki, in ""village of flowers"" Nishida Town, is located at the heart of Koriyama's traditional crafts of Miharu-goma horse dolls and Miharu Hariko dolls. The Miharu name comes from the Edo period local Miharu Domain. There are four workshops in this village, and each displays their own original Hariko, Hariko masks and Miharu-goma. Hashimoto Hiroji Folk Craft is located apart from the other three, and offers dolls on the subject of Kabuki plays and Classical Japanese dance, Hina dolls, and Children's Day samurai dolls made with skill and care."

    A potter producing Aizu-hongo ware that was founded in 1870. They continue to create durable pottery featuring hand-drawn designs made with locally sourced materials including the clay, gosu (asbolite), and glaze. The symbol design of the kiln is a motif of the local Aizu Mishirazu persimmon. The pottery from Suigetsu kiln is sturdier than other pottery product and is known for suited in microwaves and ovens. They also hold hands-on experience classes at the workshop including a hand-build pottery class where you can form and color your own clay creation, and a ceramic painting class where you choose a mug or plate from three colors; black, blue, or pink, and then decorate it.

    A pottery studio creating Aizu-hongo ware founded by a couple in 2007. Using nearly 10 different glazes including white and black glazes they have been creating works which feature a gentle atmosphere and serve to color your everyday life. Their Akabeko Series, decorated with the face of Aizu' traditional Akabeko red cow, is very popular with female customers. A cup, sake cup, or mug decorated with the adorable face of the Akabeko makes for the perfect Aizu souvenir. They also hold hands-on classes including forming pottery using a wheel or by hand as well as ceramic painting.

    A pottery studio of Aizu-hongo ware is said to have been first founded in 1719. They produce carefully made pieces of Aizu-hongou ware using local ingredients gathered from Hakuho Mountains, an area blessed with an abundance of nature. Each piece possesses its own unique characteristics and presence and is finished in the oldest climbing kiln in the Tohoku region which is said to have been built in the mid-Edo period. It's a massive climbing kiln that was gravely damaged in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, but was restored thanks to the Munakata Climbing Kiln Repair Project. It is also known as a kiln visited by Yanagi Soetsu, Hamada Shoji, and Kawai Kanjiro, three of the leaders of the Japanese Folk Craft Movement.

    This long-standing potter has been making pottery for over 280 years since their founder started it during 1751 to 1764. The studio is famous as the first kiln in Japan to incorporate the strainer into the teapot. They make a wide variety of pottery products including celadon porcelain, white porcelain, carbonization pottery, and more, and are known for their wide range of products from daily use items to matcha green tea bowls. They also have a large number of innovative designs from pieces decorated with a number of holes to those with intentional chips. With prior reservation they offer classes in forming pottery by hand and using a potter's wheel.

    A pottery studio of Aizu-hongo ware was founded in 2001 that has been making pieces sporting a modern youthful flair. The workshop is located in a remodeled kominka (old houses) and marked by its handmade signboard, and they produce simple and modern tableware that fits in with a modern lifestyle. The studio is known for their large number of works in the Konabiki style in which a white clay is layered over the base and then covered with a clear glaze. The beautiful gentle appearance, almost as though dusted with powder, is gaining popularity amongst women and young people. They also operate a cafe and gallery in a renovated warehouse just a short distance from the workshop.

    A pottery studio creating one by one carefully made pieces with black and brown color variations that give the impression of metal due to yohen (firing-denaturation). Their Tetsujiyaki (iron colored pottery) uses far-infrared rays and minus ions to produce an iron appearing finish without the use of glaze and each piece sports an original shape, size, and color. They offer a hands-on class that requires reservations to be made at least one week prior.
