    Leisure / Hobbies
    Fukushima Kitakata-shi Teramachi 4771
This shop offers original pieces by Rakuten calligrapher Takahashi Masami, as well as Japanese knickknacks. The atmospheric workshop carries a traditional Kitakata atmosphere, and offers an up-close look at the fun and depth of traditional calligraphy and lettering. Rakuten is a style of art based around imaginative and distorted renderings of the original roots of kanji, ancient Chinese oracle script and bronze inscriptions. They offer a unique beauty that varies wildly from more modern kanji, and you can see exampled used at the station building, local shop signs, ramen bowls, and other places around town. The workshop also offers seal engraving activities to bring home the fun of kanji art.
