    This strawberry farm is located along National Route 112 in Takaya Daishita, Sagae City. They cultivate a number of varieties of strawberry, such as “Tochiotome,” “Yayoihime” and “Akihime,” and you can enjoy strawberry picking from January until around early June. As the strawberries are grown in raised beds, you can pick them standing up.

    Nakano Fruits Garden is an orchard located along the Sekiyama Highway in Kawarago in the city of Tendo. In June and July, customers can pick cherries, and depending on the season, they can pick other kinds of fruit, such as grapes or apples. Yam boiling parties are held in September and October. There is a cafe on the grounds that serves parfaits and pancakes made with fruit, and the adjacent retail store sells fruit products, such as jams.

    6月のサクランボ狩りに来れなかった(今年は予約が殺到して早いうちに締め切られたため)かわりに、8月に桃狩りと葡萄狩りを楽しんできました。料金は両方で1000円+税と安かったです。 それぞれレッツピーチ、レッツグレープの掛け声でフルーツ狩りがスタート。持ち帰りはできませんが食べ放題です。ブドウは3種類ありました。桃は摘んですぐのものより時間をおいたもののほうが熟して甘かったです。

    Daimaru Farm is a tourism-oriented farm located a ten-minute drive from JR Akayu Station. Due to the unique temperature variations in the Okitama Basin, visitors can enjoy grapes, cherries, and other fruit grown with minimal agrichemicals. Satonishiki, Benisayaka, Taishonishiki and other varieties of cherries are available from mid June to early July, while Delaware, Steuben, Takao, and other varieties of grapes are available from early August to late October. Everyone--children, adults, or family groups--can enjoy this popular spot.

    About a 15-minute drive from the JR Oishida Station, this farm was designated as an eco-farm that primarily grows Obanazawa watermelon. The watermelon is known to be exceptionally tasty, so the 3L size is recommended. The produce is also sold on the farm. The smaller melons and cherries line the markets about mid-June. The koshihikari variety rice is also harvested at this farm, where the rice paddy that is surrounded by watermelon patches, also attracts repeat customers. Other recommended produce are the red turnips, the home-style turnip pickles and the completely organic fatsia sprouts.

    Yamagata Tsuruoka-shi Haguromachi

    牧場の真ん中を道路が走り、両側の牧場にはたくさんの牛が長閑に草を食べています。平和な景色で、心が和みます。

    昨年に続き今年も栗拾いに行き、カフェを利用しました。ちなみに栗拾いをするとカフェの割引券がもらえます。栗拾い弁当、豚汁、栗ソフトは昨年同様とても美味しかったです。今年はレジ横にあったシフォンケーキを初めて購入。味はプレーンで、シンプルながらしっとりとして優しい味わいでした。他にも、ぶどうやジャムやジュースなどいろいろな美味しそうなものも売っていました。

Although often overlooked, Yamagata prefecture by no means lacks appeal: the Yamadera temple trail through the mountains, deliciously tender Yonezawa wagyu, and over 100 steaming hot springs, most notably Zao Onsen, await visitors. When winter comes, the snowcapped peaks become dotted with skiers by day and onsen-goers by night, while summer brings the celebration of juicy Yamagata cherries.
