    "Nico, a French restaurant that emphasizes local production for local consumption, captivates tourists with its cuisine using local Shonai ingredients. Owner-chef Funaji Ota established his own restaurant in 2008 (Heisei 20) after training in France and working in local restaurants. He is pursuing ""new Sakata French cuisine"" while preserving tradition. He uses mainly locally grown ingredients, and everything from bread to desserts is homemade. The ""Shonai black bai shellfish croquettes"" are especially popular. Reservations are recommended."

    山小屋を思わせるような三角屋根の建物のレストランでした。お食事はランチもディナーもすべておまかせのコースのみ。どんなお料理がいただけるかはその日のお楽しみです。「黒バイ貝のコロッケ」は、まあるい緑色のフォルムがかわいらしいお料理。ブルゴーニュ風に仕上げられ、苔のような緑はパセリで、中に食感のよい黒バイ貝が隠されていました。

    Fleur de Soleil is a restaurant located in an old farm in the rural area of Takahata Town on the Budo-Matsutake Line. The restaurant’s modern building, a remodeled traditional storehouse, is surrounded by fields that grow much of the food served there, giving the place the feeling of a rural hideaway. An attractive feature of the restaurant is that customers sitting in the dining area can look out and see an expanse of grapevine trellises, giving them they are in a southern French village surrounded by greenery. Full set menus of authentic French cuisine are available for both lunch and dinner but by reservation only. The cuisine is centered on vegetables grown in the restaurant’s organic gardens, supplemented with seasonal ingredients, such as fish or fruit. The result is a simple yet elegantly prepared menu.

    10ヶ月ぶりのプチノエル。 去年は鳩をいただきました。 今回は鴨のコンフィ。 去年から食べたかった雲丹と甘エビのカッペリーニも美味！ 満足なお夕飯でした❣️

    夫婦でやっているお店なのかしら？ 奥様はのんびりマイペースな癒し系の奥様。 料理は出てくるのはおそいけれども味は最高においしい。 毎年結婚記念日に利用しています。 是非食べてほしいフレンチの一つです。

    接待にて4000円コースにて予約しまたが、料理の品数が半端ない。全部で７品、鱈の白子フレンチ風料理、庄内産の魚料理、庄内牛のステーキ、デザートまで。まるで4000円とは思えない料理の数々。素晴らしいの一言です。

Although often overlooked, Yamagata prefecture by no means lacks appeal: the Yamadera temple trail through the mountains, deliciously tender Yonezawa wagyu, and over 100 steaming hot springs, most notably Zao Onsen, await visitors. When winter comes, the snowcapped peaks become dotted with skiers by day and onsen-goers by night, while summer brings the celebration of juicy Yamagata cherries.
