They sell dumplings made without additives like sugar and enzymes and their catchphrase Hard Dumplings Tomorrow speaks to the high quality. The name Senbon Dango comes from having sold 1,000 dango skewers in a single day. They also sell hidendaizu tofu made with Yamagata Prefecture grown hiden soybeans and natural nigari bittern.

    This is a seafood market located near Sakata Port in Funaba-cho, Sakata City. The locally caught fish from the Shonai coast is what is mostly sold at the Kanbara Seafood (Sakata Seafood Market) on the first floor. On the second floor, one can enjoy seafood bowls and set menu courses for a reasonable price at the Kaisendonya Tobishima diner. The view from the wood deck overlooking the Sakata Port, truly a fishing depot, is something to behold.

It’s about 10 minutes by car from JR Yonezawa Station.

    A tofu shop located at the entranceway to the Ginzan Onsen hot spring resort area in Obanazawa City renowned for its old fashioned Taisho Roman-style townscape. The shop’s “Tofuya” sign and menu posted on what otherwise looks like the entrance to an ordinary Japanese-style home draw the eye due to their unexpectedness. The shop’s tofu is served in disposable plastic trays to make it easy to eat on the go while walking about the town. The shop’s particularly popular boiled tofu is so soft and delicate it practically melts in your mouth. The nama-age deep fried bean curd has a crisp and light texture. Diners are recommended to soak their feet in the nearby footbath while enjoying their tofu.

    This is a tourist farm located about 20 minutes by car from JR Tsuruoka Station. The Shonai sand dunes, with good drainage is one of Japan’s leading melon producing areas. At JA Tsuruoka Saigo fruit and vegetables sorting facility, visitors can experience all-you-can-eat sweet and fresh Shonai sand dune melons for about a month in July with reservations. The types of melons are Andes Melon and JA Tsuruoka’s original melon called the Tsuruhime Melon and Tsuruhime Red Melon. Both the Tsuruhime and the Tsuruhime Red melons are large and have high sugar content and visitors can enjoy their elegant sweet aroma. Visitors can also experience harvesting melons and melons are sold on site at the same venue.

Their restaurant serving such delicacies as sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and steak using the best Yamagata beef has gourmands lining up to get in. Their lunch menu with items like set meals and rice bowls is only available on weekdays. A party menu is available if booked in advance.

Dewazakura has been the Gold Prize winning sake in the Annual Japan Sake Awards for 12 years running, and also awarded the highest Champion Sake title. With the overwhelming support of the local residents, this brewery's goal is to make ginjo a global household word. To this end they export this brew to over 25 countries, expanding their presence worldwide.

    This is a Japanese confectionery shop in Yamadera, Yamagata City. Their signature item, Morokoshi sweet, is filled with azuki beans and is branded with the Yamadera name. The historic Morokoshi, a pleasant smelling mildly sweet bean cake, won an award at the 19th National Confectionery Exposition, and is said to be popular even with people who are not fond of sweets. The well-known Yamadera cakes and kintsuba are also sold here.

They offer special delivery of a bento to your train car on all trains departing from Yonezawa Station (by reservation, two days prior by 5 p.m.)

    This is the main factory of Sakata Beika, the maker of rice crackers since 1951 located in Ryou-cho, Sakata City. Here, the trademark Holland sembei crackers are made, as well as the kagami sembei and usuyaki-shokunin chibisuke crackers. A 395 meter section is dedicated to the Holland sembei Factory, out of the 545-meter-long factory. Visitors can observe, shop, enjoy the cafe, or even try their hand at making the crackers.
