Opened in 2001, the Ishinomori Mangattan Museum has eagerly adopted and employed the “Manga Declaration”, which represents the creative ideals of Shotaro Ishinomori regarding the expressive potential of manga (comics) as a media. In addition to entertaining and animated displays, standard exhibits, special exhibition rooms, and an original animation theater, this museum even offers you the opportunity to try animation for yourself. The plentiful content is overwhelming. About 10 minutes by car via Ishinomaki Kanan Interchange on the Sanriku Expressway.

I visited with my brother and a friend. I didnt know much about the particular mangas and anime shown in the museum but one caught by eye. This was Cyborg 009 (I am now obsessed). I now know much...

    Miyagi Ishinomaki-shi Ayukawahama Kinkasan 5
This shrine is located in Kinkasan, Ayukawahama, Ishinomaki City. The shrine was built in celebration of the discovery of the first gold mine in Japan in 749 in what is now Wakuya Town. The first gold mined there was then presented to the imperial court. The shrine, which stands on Mt. Kinkaoff the shores of the Oshika Peninsula, enshrines Kanayamahiko-no-kami and Kanayamahime-no-kami, the Shinto deities of gold. The shrine has also venerated the Buddhist deity Benzaiten ever since the age of syncretism of kami and buddhas. Many have come to worship Benzaiten as the deity of luck and economic fortune.

Approximately 40 minutes from the Kawakita Interchange off the Sanriku Expressway, this shrine is known as the shrine of wisdom and academic knowledge in which the Amenokoyane god is enshrined. The shrine gets its name from its object of worship, which is an immense rock that appears as though it is hanging from ropes in midair. It gained popularity as the god of academic entrance examinations, because it may seem as though you will fail but you won’t, when the cords of the rock did not fail but the rock did not fall and survived the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and many other disasters. Every year from mid-December the new year’s decorations of a large hoop, an Ashi-no-Wa, and gate post decorations made from special reeds are placed at the entrance as a welcome to many worshipers.

"The museum is located about five minutes by car from JR Watanoha Station. Visitors can learn about the achievements of the Keicho Diplomatic Mission to Europe and the culture of sailing ships during the Age of Discovery by viewing a large screen showing the interior of the restored ship, the San Juan Bautista, a galleon that sailed the Pacific Ocean and back in the 1600s, and an aerial view of the ship. The adjacent ""Ishinomaki City San Juan Bautista Park"" was built in the image of the Italian square seen by HasekuraTsunenaga and others of the Keicho Diplomatic Mission, and outdoor events are also held there. Visit the San Juan Museum website for the latest status of the display of the restored ship."

Ive visited this site several times since 2014. However, its been over two years since my last visit. Now you cannot go to the dock around the ship. You cannot board the ship. I talked to the women...

This experience facility at the tip of Karakuwa Peninsula provides visitors with an accessible introduction to the environment and culture of the area through photos, video and more. The center's main draw is its Tsunami Museum. Built after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, it creates a simulated tsunami experience through images, sound, vibration, and simulated wind. It also displays numerous photographs and video taken by local residents in the aftermath of the disaster.
