    A boat passenger terminal located in Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture. Two lines dock and depart from here-city-operated boat which travels to and from Shiogama and the islands of Urato, and a private pleasure cruise and sightseeing boat which plies Matsushima Bay. The Matsushima Bay pleasure cruise travels a variety of routes which users can select based on journey time and desired budget. The terminal building is host to a variety of shops including a shop selling Shiogama specialty products, a souvenir store, beef tongue shop, kamaboko steamed fish paste shop, and a seafood shop. You can also find several restaurants here. With a cafe, Chinese food, soba noodles, sushi, seafood, and more, there's plenty to choose from.

    The market of Shiogama Port boasts one of the largest volumes of fresh tuna nationally, and offers an abundance of fresh seafood and produce. There are also five areas in the hall to eat and visitors can buy their favorite seafood and create their own original Kaisendon (seafood and rice bowl), or have the seafood purchased cooked at BBQs available to be used freely. It is approximately 15 minutes by car from Rifunaka Interchange on the Sanriku Expressway.

    Take a left at the Aqua Gate Exit of Hon-Shiogama Station on the JR Senseki Line and head towards Minato-machi along Kaigan-dori Street. This shop stubbornly continues to make and sell Sasa kamaboko steamed fish paste using the same traditional recipe and methods since it first opened its doors here in the birthplace of Sasa kamaboko. Visitors can take a guided tour of the production factory and then enjoy fresh cooked kamaboko. The Sasa kamaboko grilling experience is also popular and allows you to grill and eat Sasa kamaboko (reservation required at least one week in advance). The shop's restaurant serves the kind of dishes you can only enjoy in Japan's top fresh tuna port, such as seafood rice bowls topped with fresh seafood and tuna delivered straight from Shiogama Port.

Adjoining the brewery which makes Urakasumi, one of Miyagi's top local sakes, this gallery serves as a space for providing information on a variety of sakes as well as on Shiogama. Dedicated to providing on Japan's culture of sake which gave birth to Urakasumi, the facility displays and sells exclusive products such as drinking vessels and sakes you can only purchase and taste locally. At the sake tasting counter, you can purchase an original sake cup which allows you to sample various sakes. The lineup of sakes changes monthly and you can bring your cup home as a souvenir.

It is known for having originated the name “Sasa Kamaboko” used to refer to the leaf-shaped steamed fish cakes that are a specialty of Sendai. It sells a variety of kamaboko made by skilled craftsman using high-quality surimi (minced fish paste), including their Ginsenzasa, which is made in part with wild-caught red sea bream. Visitors can also try roasting a sasa kamaboko by hand (no reservation required).

It is famous for its oyster curry bread, which contains a whole oyster, and is a specialty of Matsushima. The zunda melon bread, made with zunda sweet green paste is also very popular.

    This Japanese confection shop is located in Matsushima Chonai, Matsushima Town, Miyagi County. It makes and sells Matsushima Koren rice crackers, which are said to have first been made by a nun from Matsushima’s Kannon-do Temple known as “Korenni” using rice offered to the temple as a form of charity. The technique for making this famous additive-free confection has been passed down to a single successor for 23 generations over 700 years. In addition to versions flavored with caster sugar and Wasonbon sugar, there is also a version flavored with healthier reduced maltose sugar.

    The confectionery store and house of Tanrokuen, which originally created the confectionery “Shiogama”, is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. The confectionery “Shiogama” was offered to worshippers who visited the Monzenmachi of Shiogama at stores in the Edo Period and the traditional taste has been passed on until today. It is a four minute walk from JR Hon-Shiogama Station.

Inside, the bright, white shop is attractively filled with a variety of Matsushima products. Particularly popular are the Kakitokometo, senbei rice crackers created by pressing and frying together a whole Miyagi Prefecture-grown oyster with Miyagi Prefecture-grown Hitomebore rice flour. The Kakitokometobasilto, a seasonal version made by adding flavorful basil, is also popular. Some of the shop's many other products include tsukudani oyster boiled and preserved in soy sauce, tsukudani nori seaweed, and oysters pickled in olive oil.

The shop offers a wide selection of Japanese sweets made with high quality ingredients chosen from specific production areas. The shop's Nama Dorayaki, available since 1987, consists of an paste made with high quality Hokkaido adzuki beans mixed with whipped cream and sandwiched between two dorayaki pancakes. In addition to standard flavors like adzuki plain bean and chocolate, the shop also offers special seasonal flavors like sour cream, Japanese chestnut, and cafe au lait. In addition, the shop sells unique, Shiogama-style sweets such as the renowned Shiogama flavored with perilla; The Shiogama-zakura, a version made with adzuki beans; and Sake Cake, a sweet made with a popular local sake brand.

Also popular are the long-time best seller Coffee Rolls and the smooth Zao pudding made with Zao milk and eggs.

    お土産やさんとしての利用をしました。床面積が広い=かなり多くの種類のお土産物の取り扱いがあります。いろいろなお店で「買おうと思って悩んでやめたけどやっぱりほしい」と思ったものがまた置いてあるはず!とくに食べ物系のお土産の種類は圧巻でした。
