    Miyagi Sendai-shi Aoba-ku Ichibancho 4-8-15
    A department store in Ichiban-cho4-Chome, Aoba Ward, Sendai City. It opened in 1933 as the 11th Mitsukoshi branch. The store covers two building, the main building and the Jozenji-dori Road building, and sells fashion goods and general goods. The store is home to a wide variety of restaurants and in the first basement level they have a food garden with shops selling prepared foods, perishables, and famous sweets. There's also a rooftop beer garden open from late May to early September.

    一番町四丁目商店街の一番北側に面んた場所にあります。地下鉄勾当台公園駅からはすぐですが、仙台駅からですとそこそこ距離があります。老舗百貨店ということで客層も年齢層が高めですね。観光客にとってはあまり特徴ないお店かも。

    This permanent market is in Aoba Ward, Sendai City. Although it's called the Morning Market, it is an urban shopping street. Most of its shops operate between 8:00 and 18:00 and sell seafood landed at Sendai's fishing port as well as produce carried across the mountains from Yamagata. It has become known Sendai's Kitchen and Sendai's Ameyoko because of the wealth of food on offer. There are also many sweet shops, sushi shops, and delis, making it a popular place to eat on the go.

    The Jyogi Tofu Shop—founded in 1890—uses soy beans and natural bittern when hand-making tofu with the traditional production techniques for each product, including firm tofu, silky tofu, and three-cornered fried tofu. The three-cornered fried tofu is particularly popular—you can watch them fry it up for you.

    西方寺に寄る際に近くに地元の定義とうふがあり豆腐好きの私としては揚げも大好物で揚げたての揚げに醤油と七味をふりかけがぶっと噛めばぺろっと美味しく食べれます。結構な行列ですが回転が早くすぐに食べれます。座る所もありますが参道の道路淵に座り皆さん食べていました。他にもお店があり賑やかな参道になっています。

    A six-minute drive from the Sendai-Miyagi interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. This red brick large commercial complex resembles a European castle; tenants include a shopping mall, restaurants, and even entertainment facilities. In the Aqua Terrace Nishikigaoka aquarium on the second floor of the Aqua building, visitors can see fish and reptiles and pet small animals in an amazing space interweaving water, light, and fish. The Kansei no Mori indoor wooden play land provides a play space for children who don't have many chances to play in the great outdoors.

    用事の帰りに錦ヶ丘ヒルサイドモールに寄りました。以前はアウトレットでしたが、今は地域の娯楽施設といった感じです。

    This commercial complex is located next to Sendai Station in Chuo 1-Chome, Aoba Ward, Sendai City. It was the first PARCO in the Tohoku region when it opened in 2008. It has around 150 tenant shops including fashion, sundries, and food retailers as well as restaurants on its nine aboveground floors and one basement floor. The Sendai PARCO2 annex, which features around 80 tenant shops and a cinema complex, opened in 2016.

    A six-minute walk from the Park 2 Exit of Kotodai-Koen Station on the Sendai Subway Namboku Line. This public multipurpose complex situated on Jozenji-dori Avenue serves as a center for arts and visual culture activities and also supports media-related activities. On the first floor, there's an event space with a large video screen, a cafe, and a shop. Other facilities include an audio-visual library, the Sendai City Library, and a gallery. The building itself, outfitted with large floor-to-ceiling windows and lighting tubes running throughout, has received high praise for its architecture.

    Fujisaki Department Store is one of the oldest department stores in Miyagi Prefecture. It can trace its origins back to a business dealing in cotton and hemp cloth that was founded in 1819; over time, it grew into a major department store. Fujisaki Department Store is proud of its roots in the local community; most locals will be familiar with Fujisaki Department Store commercial jingle “I like this town!” which is played over the loudspeaker system in the Store. Families with children are the main target market for the Store, and there is a special “Babies and Kids Club” in which children up to the age of 12 can accumulate points to be redeemed for special gifts and services.

There are many fashionable restaurants and cafés, and the “Shiawase no Pancake” (Happy Pancake) shop, popular in Omotesando for light and fluffy pancakes, has opened its first restaurant in the Tohoku region here. “Sicilian rock salt caramel pancake” is an original dish only available at the Sendai store.

    The main store of Abe Kamaboko-ten is said to be where the name of the Sendai specialty, Sasa (bamboo) kamaboko, originated from. As well as selling all kinds of kamaboko (fish cake) including the bamboo kamaboko (fish cakes in the shape of bamboo leaves), visitors can also have a go at grilling their own bamboo kamaboko in the shop and of course taste it too.

    This Japanese confection shop is located on National Route 48 in Ainosawa, Sakunami Aoba Ward, Sendai City. It sells a variety of Japanese sweets made in the old-fashioned way with homemade sweetened red bean paste and other choice ingredients. Offerings include kushidango (sweet dumplings on skewers), warabimochi (bracken starch dumplings), and mame daifuku (rice cake mixed with adzuki beans and stuffed with sweetened bean paste), which is offered exclusively on weekends. Their fried tsutsumiage buns, which feature a filling of strained bean paste and walnuts, are also popular.

    リーズナブルで出来立てでおいしい。フレーバーも多く他にも揚げ饅頭もおいしい。胡麻、胡桃、ずんだを購入。特にずんだはあんがたっぷりで甘さも適当。団子が柔らかく本当においしい。

    This taiyaki (fish-shaped cakes) shop is located in the Hapina Nakakecho shopping district in Chuo 2-Chome, Aoba Ward, Sendai City. It makes usukawa taiyaki with a thin, crispy skin stuffed with fillings such as standard ogura-an (bean paste with mashed and whole adzuki beans) and custard cream. The shop also offers taiyaki with a zundamochi (rice cake and edamame paste) filling on weekends as well as a variety of seasonal taiyaki. Their chilled nama-taiyaki, which feature a whip cream filling, are also popular.

    The Taiyaki here is good and cheap. Around 150 yen plus (short term memory). The Kakigori is nice too during the summer especially with the colour flavours added.

In addition to kokeshi wooden dolls, the shop sells a variety of Tohoku crafts popular with tourists, including tamamushi lacquerware, Sendai tsuishu relief lacquerware, and Sendai tansu chests of drawers. The shop also sells a variety of goods mixing old-fashioned folk crafts with modern ideas, including Akari Kokeshi, kokeshi wooden dolls equipped with an LED flashlight in the base in case of a disaster; and Sendai no Koku clocks which make use of traditional Sendai tansu chests of drawers designs.
