    This roadside station is located along National Route 282. In the direct sales store for produce, you can purchase fresh seasonal vegetables, juices and jams produced at the base of Mt. Iwate. In addition, they offer curry and ramen using spinach. There is also a restaurant certified with two stars for local production and consumption visited by many tourists.

    今回初めてお店に入りました。お昼ごはんを食べたいと思って、こちらの道の駅に初めて寄りました。友達が杜中茶ポークかつ丼を注文して、私も道の駅おすすめのほうれん草入り冷やし中華を注文しましたが、麺の色が緑色でとてもびっくりしましたよ☺️

    Roadside Station Oritsume is located along Iwate Prefectural Route 22, along the Karumai-Kunohe Line Road. It sells sweet tea, mountain grape juice, and other special products of the village of Kunohe. Visitors can also try regional cuisine, including the Hittsumi Prix Fixe Dinner, which uses young local chicken. Since this roadside station affords a panorama of the prefectural nature park and other sights, many tourists use it as a viewing spot.

    トイレ休憩で訪問しただけだったが、弁当、お惣菜、飲み物などもあり、楽しかった。 周りには食事処はほとんど無いので、ランチに訪問するのもアリだろう。 現地の方々と思われる人たちも野菜を買っていたが、楽しそう。

    This driving course runs along Prefectural Route 318 from Hachimantai City’s Matsukawa Onsen. You can drive through the nature of Hachimantai Plateau on the way to Hachimantai Aspite Line via Toshichi Onsen. Although it is closed during the winter, you can enjoy a snow corridor with snow on both sides of the road after it reopens.

    二戸市の山間部にある古寺です。駐車場から石段をしばらく登った先に境内があります。訪問時は参拝者も少なく落ち着いたアトモスフィアに包まれていました。御朱印あります。

    This winery, located in Hiraniwa Highland in Iwate District, Iwate Prefecture, was established in 1979 as part of a project aimed at town renewal utilizing the area's crimson glory vine grapes. Focused on making wines rooted in the local community, the winery makes wines like Yamabudo Wine made exclusively with crimson glory vine grapes; Hotaru; and Foret, a wine made with European grapes which has won awards in international wine competitions. Visitors can taste and purchase the winery's wines in the on-site shop. With an advance reservation, you can tour the winery and view the production tanks, bottling facility, and even the wine cellar, plus enjoy soba noodles and other dishes at the adjoining restaurant dedicated to local production for local consumption.

    This museum is located in Kamasuda, Hachimantai City. It houses a collection of materials about the culture and history of the old town, which grew up as a key transport center leading to Tsugaru and Akita. Its four permanent exhibitions are “Life and Culture in the Appikawa and Yoneshiro Watersheds,” “Lacquerware: Beauty in the Midst of Everyday Life,” “Carrying Past Ways of Life into the Present Day,” and “Literature, the Jomon Era, and Skiing.” Other exhibits include specially produced Appi lacquerware, everyday goods from the past, and items connected with Kojun, the 15th great high priest of Kan’eiji Temple Gokoku-in.

    Hachimantai Aspite Line is a 27 kilometer driving course stretches from Iwate prefecture’s Hachimantai Gozaisho district to Akita Prefecture’s Toroko Onsen. It’s only open from mid-April to early November. From the time it opens to late April, the course is lined with snow to create a “Snow Corridor,” and in autumn the fall colors on Mt. Iwate and the surrounding forests offer an overwhelming sight. It’s 35 minutes’ drive from Tohoku Expressway Matsuo Hachimantai Interchange.

    Located about 30 minutes towards Ninohe on National Route 4 from the Tohoku Expressway’s Takizawa Interchange, it opened as the first outdoor sculpture museum in Iwate Prefecture, and is next to Roadside Station Ishigaminooka. You can enjoy outdoor exhibitions where you can see nature throughout the four seasons and sculptures, and special exhibitions centered on artists related to Iwate. There is a lavender garden in the outdoor exhibition hall, and about 20,000 plants are in full bloom from late June to early July, when lavender fair is also held. It also holds various workshops including one for dried flowers. In addition, it is certified as a “Koibito no Seichi” (Lover’s Sanctuary). (The outdoor exhibition hall will be closed until early summer of 2020 due to renovation work)

    This roadside station is located in Iwate-machi, Iwate County. In the direct sales store for produce, they sell only items harvested in Iwate Town, such as shiitake mushrooms, asparagus and wasabi, and the storefront is lined with seasonal ingredients. Besides a ramen restaurant using the specialty Haru Midori cabbage and another restaurant where you can taste meat dishes with things like Iwate Menkoi Ushi, there is also a teahouse where you can enjoy ice cream and soba buckwheat noodles. In addition, it is adjoined by the Ishigami-no-oka Museum of Art sculpture museum.

    A historic site and park located a five-minute drive south on National Route 4 traveling from the Ichinohe Interchange on the Tohoku Jukan Expressway Hachinohe Route. The park is maintained on the site of a mid-Jomon period settlement. The East Village contains over 200 pit dwellings, while graves have been found in the square in the Central Village. There are the remains of a building made from giant logs lashed together on the outskirts of the graveyard which is thought to have been connected to the graves. The Goshono Jomon Museum inside the park contains a building destroyed by a fire 4,000 years ago, an exhibit on the process involved in recreating a pit dwelling, and exhibits containing tools and other objects.

    "A chocolate factory and shop located a 15-minute walk from JR Ninohe Station. The facility was opened by Iwateya, a long standing nanbu senbei rice cracker company, in 2016. The facility makes and sells ""Choco Nanbu Premium"" chocolate covered nanbu senbei confection series. The factory stands behind the shop and visitors can watch as products are made beyond a glass window. There are a wide variety of confections to choose from, including ""Tablet Choco"" flavorful sesame seed nanbu senbei covered with smooth chocolate, and ""Choco Nanbu Ice"" chocolate ice cream blended with nanbu senbei."

    Mt. Hachimantai sprawls almost equally in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture and Akita Prefecture. Due to its rather un-mountain-like shape, in 1962 Iwate Prefecture added soil to the mountain to improve its look. The top of the mountain is a cool 15° C even in the middle of summer, Hachiman Swamp, the largest swamp in Hachimantai, is lush with Asian skunk cabbage, hare's-tail cottongrass, and other alpine plants. The beautiful clear blue waters of the Hachimantai Dragon Eye pond from which it gets its name can only be seen during the season of fresh green leaves in spring.

    A gorge located a 20-minute drive from the Matsuo-Hachimantai Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. Extending out from the Matsukawa Onsen area, the gorge is one of Hachimantai's top fall foliage viewing destinations. The Matsukawa Genbugan, a local sight, consists of a riverside basalt cliff with pillar-like walls; each year in autumn, the cliff is enwrapped in a sea of beautiful fall foliage. Those walking on the Mori no Ohashi Bridge spanning the gorge can view the sprawling carpet of yellow and gold foliage directly underneath; there's also a parking area, making this a great place to stop and take in the spectacular view.

    This community center is located approximately a 40-minute drivefrom Kunohe Interchange on the Hachinohe Expressway, via National Route 340. The hands-on learning facility, Furusato no Monozukuri, has a huge variety of experience workshops where visitors can learn about the bounty of Hiraniwa Highland's rich nature. Visitors can enjoy a number of activities, such as the plant and wild grape dyeing experience, where visitors can use refreshing colors to dye a handkerchief, or the October-limited wild grape harvesting experience. A reservation is required. There are also experience workshops that do not need a reservation, such as the flower pressing experience. At the restaurant in the hotel, visitors can enjoy a glass of wine with dishes which are made locally for local consumption, such as Kuzumakikogen homemade soba.
