    This art museum that opened in 2001 is located in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. Paintings and sculptures by artists related to Iwate Prefecture, such as Tetsugoro Yorozu, Shunsuke Matsumoto and Yasutake Funakoshi are on display. In addition, in the permanent exhibition, commentaries by volunteers, collection talk events and other events are regularly held, drawing many tourists to the museum.

    This is a beautiful museum. I was impressed when I stepped into the lobby. When I went there was barely anyone there so I had the museum to myself. There are many exhibits of local artists...

    This museum that opened in 1980 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the creation of Morioka Prefecture is located in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. It exhibits materials about the natural environment in Iwate and the history of the prefecture from the geological age to the modern era. You can see Mt. Iwate from the second floor on day with clear weather. The private houses Former Sasaki Residence and Former Fujino Residence, both Important Cultural Properties, are exhibited on the premises and visited by many tourists.

    This glass structure, located to the west of JR Morioka Station, aims to be a base for the use of all the citizens of Iwate Prefecture. It houses public facilities such as the prefectural library and has a multi-purpose hall with a maximum capacity of 507 people. It also houses the Iwate Prefectural University campus where courses, including those for lifelong learning, are held mostly for local residents. Another of its features is that it is a complete universal design. There is tactile paving and audio guidance on each floor.

    盛岡駅から、けっこう近くにある公共文化施設です。図書館などが入っていて、市の中では中心的な役割を果たしているのだと思います。

    入口が道路とは反対側にあるので、ちょっと見過ごしてしまいがちですが、結構おもしろい博物館です。土器や石器がたくさんあって、時代ごとの変遷も併せて学べます。

    A skyscraper and commercial complex located a three-minute walk from the west entrance of Morioka Station on the Tohoku Main Line. In addition to the numerous offices which rent space here, there are conference rooms with free Wi-Fi. The observation deck on the top floor offers a sweeping view of Morioka and can be used as an exhibition hall for paintings and handicrafts. The building's mall area is occupied by a drug store; clinics; and restaurants serving Japanese, Western food, a cafe buffet, and even establishments which can be used for parties. The atrium in the building contains a recreation of the front facade for the former Japan National Railways Morioka Factory.

    This authentic Western style garden, located a 25-minute drive from the Morioka Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway in Iwate District, Iwate Prefecture, is one of the largest of its kind in Japan. The garden was designed by world class landscape architect Kazuyuki Ishihara. The facility is divided into the Mori no Keikoku main garden, which is filled with an abundance of seasonal flowers and waterside landscapes; and the Mori no Oka community garden, created based on the idea of a secret flower garden. The facility's store sells gifts and souvenirs like local specialty products, seasonal flower seedlings, and soft serve ice cream. Several events are held here throughout the year such as lighting up the gardens at night.

There's also a training room with exercise bikes and running machines, making this a perfect place for weight loss training and developing basic physical fitness.     This vineyard is located about 30 minutes from the Shiwa Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway via National Route 456 and is one of many vineyards in Iwate Prefecture. Located among the range of broad, green hills in the Sahinai District of Shiwa Town, it welcomes visitors. It grows grapes in environmentally friendly ways and prioritizes production of a reliable product. The rows of vines are far apart enough to allow a wheelchair to pass through, and since they are inside a simple greenhouse, visitors can pick grapes even when it is raining. Between late August and early October, Shiwa Vineyard sells grapes by weight for visitors to take home. Visitors who make reservations may barbecue in specified places.

    Located about a 15-minute drive from the Tohoku Expressway’s Shiwa Interchange, this park was built on the site of Kosuiji Castle on a small mountain near the center of town. Kosuiji Castle once flourished as the residence of the Shiba family in the Ashikaga clan, and it prospered for about 400 years as the center of medieval Shiwa County. The Kitakami River flows below you, and the park overlooks Mt. Iwate and Mt. Azumane in the distance, and about 2,000 cherry trees such as Edo-higanzakura cherry, Yoshino cherry and double-flowered cherry are planted in the park. The path leading to the park becomes a wonderful tunnel of cherry blossoms when they are in bloom.

It has a cherry orchard in Mukainakanoshinden in the same city, and it operates cherry and berry orchards in Shiwa Town, Shiwa County. It holds cherry picking and blueberry picking events depending on the season.

In addition to renting out equipment that can be used for nature observations and holding nature-related exhibitions in the adjoining Nature Center, it also conducts nature observation events on the third Sunday of every month.
