Anbe is a well established “Genghis Khan”, or Mongolian mutton barbecue restaurant founded in 1947. Widely loved in Tono City, it is said that this restaurant was the original Genghis Khan restaurant which made the dish it is today. Anbe is also known as the birthplace of the Genghis Khan Bucket, characteristic of Tono Genghis Khan. The tin bucket with holes in it uses solid fuel to heat the barbecue grill placed on top.

友達に連れられてランチに訪問。新鮮なマトンを甘辛い秘伝のタレで食べます。人気店で、満席でした。肉厚でかみごたえのある赤み肉で、気になるようなクセは全くありませんでした。

Iwate Pref. Moriokashi Zaimokuchou 2-18

Kogensya is a store located on a site extending from JR Morioka Station to the Kitakami River that specializes in traditional handicraft products such as Nambu ironware and Urushi lacquerware. The items on sale are not limited to Iwate Prefecture’s own specialty products; they also include handicraft products from all over Japan, including Okinawan glassware, Shusaigama-ware ceramics from Shimane Prefecture, etc. Kogensya’s founder, Oikawa Shiro, was a classmate of Miyazawa Kenji, the writer of children’s stories who is one of Iwate Prefecture’s most famous authors, and was involved in the publication of “The Restaurant of Many Orders,” a collection of Miyazawa’s children’s stories. Kogensya’s Majieru-kan building and Kahi-kan café both have many items relating to Miyazawa Kenji on display, making Kogensya a popular place for Miyazawa Kenji enthusiasts to visit.

いーはとーぶアベニュー材木町にある宮沢賢治との係わりの深い場所です。賢治が童話集「注文の多い料理店」を出版し、当時はほとんど売れなかった時代をともにした出版社。店の奥、中庭に、注文の多い料理店出版の地の碑や烏の北斗七星の石柱、原稿などの展示館があり、賢治との係わりの深さが感じられる場所です。訪ねた際は休館中でしたが、喫茶室もあるので、通りの散策の際、立ち寄って楽しんでください。

Iwate Pref. Moriokashi Konyachou 1-31

Located in a residential district along Nakatsugawa River, Gozaku is a miscellany shop for everyday bamboo goods. The flat-roofed Japanese building is designated a preserved building in Morioka City and was used in the filming of NHK’s serial TV drama “Dondo hare.” Built from late Edo Period to Meiji Period, the building was a merchant house dealing in straw products and wicks for lanterns. Now, it sells traditional straw sandals, colanders, and baskets, all which exude handmade warmth.

This rest house is located in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture. You can look out on Genbi Gorge, a designated scenic natural monument. In addition to souvenirs from Ichinoseki available for purchase, enjoy meals such as suba buckwheat noodles and curry and dishes using Maesawa beef while gazing out on the gorge and the clear emerald green flow of the Iwai River from the observation dining area on the second floor.

せっかくの旅が、この店に来て気分が悪くなりました。店頭に常時いるらしい男性店員の態度があまりに酷かったからです。マスクの付け方が多少不十分だっただけで「マスク！」と上から目線の命令。当然最後に土産を買うつもりで、まずトイレを借りたいと尋ねると「公園にあるから」と、とりつくしまもない。わざわざ悪い気分になりたくて旅はしないですよね...

A large Japan Agricultural Cooperatives farmers market located a 10-minute drive from Hanamaki Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture. The market carries an abundance of seasonal fruits and vegetables, flowers, and homemade foods. The market is also filled with side dishes and popular Japanese confections made by local mothers such as ganzuki, a local cake redolent with the aroma of brown sugar; and kirisensho, a chewy rice flower cake with a salty-sweet flavor. In addition, there are breads made with wheat grown in the prefecture, 10 grain rice blends, Hanamaki blue flowers, and a wide variety of foods like dressings and somen noodles. In the market's restaurant, you can enjoy free refills of Hitomebore rice grown in Hanamaki.

Esashi Yume Plaza, a facility tied to the tourist association on National Route 456 in Esashi Ward's Minamiodori Street. Its main tourist product sales area is on the first floor. They sell Esashi specialty items such as Iwayado yokan (sweet bean paste jelly), local candies, and Kinkon-zuke pickles, as well as folk crafts, Esashi Shishi-Odori dolls, etc. They also present area highlights featured in the year-long historical TV drama Homura Tatsu that was shot in Esashi. There's a lounge as well as a gallery with handicrafts made by the locals on display. Various events are held at an outdoor area covered by a tent.

The Mori no Misekkoya is among the log cabins known as ""Kenji's Classrooms.” In addition to merchandise based on Miyazawa Kenji's work, the shop also handles a variety of Hanamaki specialties. The log cabin classrooms are all side by side, with an ""Animal Classroom"" in the center, a ""Plant Classroom"" on the left, and the Mori no Misekkoya on the left. A long-standing shop selling Nanbu stencil dyed goods easily distinguished by its red tile roof in Zaimoku Town, Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. Nanbu stencil dying got its start when the first owner of Ebisuya began using paper stencils to dye household crests and designs on clothing and armor. The shop’s kimono, noren shop curtains, table centers, accessories, and other patterned indigo goods feel both elegant and dainty yet somehow wild, and make perfect gifts and souvenirs. The second floor has an exhibit on the history of Nanbu stencil dying and an audio tape explaining the processes involved. The nearest station is Morioka Station.

5年ほど前に行ったときは、地元の野菜、食品が大量にあり、お土産を全てここで済ますことができたが、今回は棚も空きが目立ち、全国どこにでもあるような商品も増え、全体的に縮小した感じがしてちょっと残念だった
