A picturesque hot spring district sprawling along Oirase Stream, whose source is Lake Towada. Walking paths have been built in the area primarily around the lake for visitors to stroll leisurely along and take in the fresh verdure in spring, fall foliage in autumn, and all the area's seasonal beauty. In winter, visitors can see rare frozen waterfalls along Oirase Stream. Throughout the year, the area bustles with tourists. Different types of springs can be found in different locations within the district, including carbonate springs, chloride springs, sulfate spring, and simple springs, and there waters are said to aid recovery from fatigue and promote health in addition to treating such conditions as nerve pain, joint pain, and rheumatism. Some of the hot spring facilities in the area have baths with views of frozen waterfalls in winter, and these are quickly gaining popularity.

Located in the sprawling Yachi Wetlands, a habitat for alpine plants, this hot spring boasts 400 years of history and is considered one of Japan's top three secluded springs. The Yachi Onsen hot spring inn's bathtubs are filled directly from the bottom with waters said to treat lower back pain and atopy. The inn's bathhouse facilities are open to non-guests, as well, and visitors can stop by for a casual hot spring bath experience. The inn is famous for its dishes made with fresh char raised in the clean spring waters welling forth at the foot of Mt. Takada-odake, part of the Hakkoda Mountains, and whether you choose the sashimi or the grilled char, you're sure to experience culinary bliss. The inn's cuisine is also available to non-guests, so day trip hot spring bathers and visiting mountain climbers should also be sure not to miss the chance to enjoy cuisine prepared with char, edible wild plants, and fresh-picked local vegetables.

A hot spring district sprawling along the Tsutagawa River flowing at the foot of the Hakkoda Mountains. The district was established by connecting to source springs in Sarukura Onsen in 1963. Here visitors can enjoy a relaxing bath while taking in the vast, seasonally varying natural beauty of Oirase Stream close by. The waters here primarily come from faintly milk white simple springs, although their qualities differ slightly by facility and location, and are said to help aid recovery from fatigue and promote health in addition to relieving muscle soreness, joint pain, sensitivity to cold, chronic digestive diseases, and a variety of other conditions.

Centuries-old stories of samurai at Kakunodate and the remains of millennia-old archaeological sites including the likes of Isedotai invite history buffs to delve into Aomori’s fascinating history. As the most northern prefecture on the Japanese mainland, Aomori enjoys a cooler climate, which makes it a welcome escape from the southern cities for combining castles, art galleries, and summer festivals with the great outdoors.
