    Akankohan Eco-Museum Center introduces you to the lush nature in the Akan National Park Akan area. The Akan Marimo (round green algae) has been designated as a Special Natural Monument. The resting room has a big fireplace and is good for a rest after walking around the lake. You can hire the snowshoes and cross country skis. You can enjoy a walk on the Bokke nature trail which is behind the museum.

    Located in the Akan Mashu National Park, this nature encounter center combines field experience and a building where the natural environment, history and culture of the local Mashu region are introduced. In addition to the panel and model displays, one can take free guided walks, and craft-making out of the natural materials. The second floor is used for community space where one can enjoy a coffee, high-definition videos or relax in the space to just enjoy viewing the woodlands.

    This facility located adjacent to “Hosooka Observatory” overlooking the Kushiro Marshland is a place to rest free of charge. Visitors can relax freely at the facility with a cottage style woody appearance around the stove. There is a corner displaying photographs of plants of the Kushiro Marshland and sightseeing information. Brochures are also available. There is also a cafe section for snacks such as soft cream, and a shop.

    The majority of this marsh is covered by the Ramsar Convention. Wildlife threatened with extinction, such as Blakiston’s fish owl and the Japanese crane are displayed in exhibitions within the center, alongside panels and dioramas detailing the protection of wetland ecosystems. The center is closed from November 1 to late April. It is approximately 30 minutes by car from the JR Kushiro Station.

They also offer eco tours, wetland treks and other activities and events where you can get close to nature.

    タンチョウヅルサンクチュアリでこちらをおすすめされまして来訪。地元のお土産屋さんという感じです。値段は非常に良心的。一番にお勧められたメンチカツ（これは高い 360円）をいただきました。2人で半分こしましたがもっと大きくてもOK。非常に美味しかったです 次回もこちらに来たら寄りたいなと思いました 暖炉の側でしばしぼーっとしたら幸せです

    摩周駅の駅舎内に、こちらの観光案内所がありました。弟子屈町の玄関口ですから、駅舎内に観光案内所があるのは便利ですね。でも、観光で弟子屈町を訪れる人のどのくらいがＪＲを利用してやってくるのでしょう。かなり少数だと思います。 当然ですが、弟子屈町とその周辺、道東地区のパンフレットが充実していました。
