    Hokkaido Sapporoshi Atsubetsu-ku Atsubetsuchuouichijou 5-2-20
"A science museum located in Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo City. With a focus on interactive exhibits, here visitors can have fun while learning about science. Appropriately for such a northern location, the museum has a full array of snow- and ice-related exhibits, including a ""Snow Factory"" which recreates the weather conditions resulting in snowfall. The museum's planetarium is also popular and uses a world-class projector to recreate 100 million glittering stars. A fun destination for children, adults, and everyone in between."

Sapporo science museum is a bit old but well preserve and good place for young kids to learn and play. Unfortunately most information and instruction here are only in japanese. However the staff is...

    Hokkaido Sapporoshi Minami-ku Koganeyu 27
A center dedicated to indigenous Ainu culture. The concrete exterior walls of the facility are decorated with Ainu patterns. The facility was built so that local residents could learn about Ainu culture and history as well as to pass on and deepen understanding of Ainu culture. Some 300 pieces of traditional Ainu clothing, ritual tools, and items used in daily life are displayed inside the museum. There's also an information corner where you can peruse videos and books. Outside, there are recreations of a traditional Ainu home, grain cellar, and pen used to keep bear cubs.

Hokkaido Areas

around-area-map

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn. Come December, these natural splendors freeze over and morph into a winter wonderland.
