    This day-use bathhouse is on a hill overlooking Utoro Bay. The log-house style building is surrounded by trees, and is the perfect place to soak away the stress of travel. There are indoor and outdoor baths for men and women both, and they offer a view of Utoro Bay and the sun setting in the Sea of Okhotsk. The cozy building has a rest station and laundromat, so lots of campers staying at nearby Shiretoko National Campground come to wash up. It is open from June through October, and closed in winter.

    This day-use bathhouse is on the other side of Midori Station from Midori Ski Area run by KiyosatoTown. The quiet facility is embraced by greenery and offers baths filled kakenagashi-style with natural hot spring water. Their outdoor baths are filled with sodium chloride sulfate springs that pump forth 330 liters a minute. Since it's 100% natural spring water without additives, it's believed to be effective at treating nerve pain and other chronic diseases. This facilities' main standout is the Omoiyari Bath, which allows the elderly and physically challenged to bathe along with their caregivers. There are also accessible toilets and changing rooms, so anyone can come and enjoy the baths with ease.

    This spa is located 18 kilometers, approximately 20 minutes' drive, from Mashike Town. It is a day-use hot spring facility located on a small hill along Ofuyu Beach. The beach extends for 25 kilometers from the southern side of Mashike Town. The spa has indoor and outdoor baths, and is especially proud of the view from the outdoor baths. Visitors can immerse themselves in the hot springs while listening to the sound of the waves and watching the superb view of the sea that extends far past National Route 231 with the sun slowly sinking beneath the horizon. It is a simple acidic spring, which is said to be effective for skin diseases and rheumatism. The spa is closed in the winter, from December to March.

    This is a day-use hot spring facility located just south of Hakodate City Kayabe River Park on Prefectural Route 980. There is an accommodation facility next door, making it convenient to use. The bath is characterized by having two source springs, both said to be effective in aiding in the recovery from fatigue, nerve pain and chronic skin diseases. The large bath is a sodium bicarbonate-containing salt springs, and the outdoor bath is sodium sulfide-containing sulfide salt hot spring. The facility also includes a sauna, Japanese-style rooms, and a refreshment area. Enjoy the view from the outdoor bath of the mountains changing colors in the seasons. Banquets can also be arranged for parties of over 15 people.

    This hot spring is in the middle of a caldera basin. The hot water is drawn from the hot spring that flows from the once active volcano. The magnificent bathhouse has a large glass window and towering rock wall. The main bath is framed with stone. Hot water of almost 50℃ drops like a waterfall from the top of the piled rocks. This hot spring flowing from the source directly is popular across a wide range of ages. The outdoor bath beyond the glass window has a feeling of spaciousness like a garden. The bath is surrounded by a fence and in the winter is a great spot to view the magical snow scenery while sitting in the bath.

    This soothing footbath is part of the Tokachigawa Onsen Guide Center and Tokachi Nature Center a 20-minute drive away by car from Obihiro Station. Tokachigawa Onsen is a moor (plant-derived) hot spring, quite uncommon in Japan, and contains a lot of plant organic matter. Compared with regular mineral based hot springs the quality of the spring water is rarely found anywhere in the world. The hot spring was said to be called the ‘Medicine marsh’ by the Ainu people, and was designated as a Hokkaido heritage site in 2004. Anyone is welcome to dip their feet into the footbath to try out the water at the south side of Center for free.

    A free footbath located in the Kawayu Onsen-gai hot spring district. The footbath's waters are constantly replenished from a sulfur hot spring. The shallow and spacious bathing area has a roof to provide shade from the sun. There are numerous wood benches around the bathing area so you can sit and enjoy a relaxing foot soak. A river in which hot spring waters flow is located close by, the steam rising off its surface creating a unique spectacle. There is a wooden footbath leading from the road to the footbath, ensuring users don't have to worry about the slippery and muddy terrain near the river.

    A free outdoor bath built on the shore of Lake Kussharo. The bath was built by local volunteers over a one month period. The bath is just five meters away from the edge of the lake. If your timing is good, you can soak in a hot outdoor bath while enjoying the sight of swans swimming on the lake. The changing areas for men and women are separate but the bathing areas of the bath itself, built of stones and boulders, are interconnected but divided by a large boulder, basically making this a mixed bathing facility. Bathers may choose to wear a bath towel or swimming suit in the bath. Note that no amenities are sold here and no bathing essentials are offered for rental. The bath is closed every week on Tuesdays and Fridays for cleaning. It may also be closed as necessary depending on the weather.

The lake itself, mixing with the hot spring waters, is warm; because of this, it doesn't freeze over in winter and many swans staying in the area gather here. A camp ground, rest house, and other facilities are located nearby, making this a great destination for families with children.

There are no partitions or other screens to conceal the bath, giving it an extremely open atmosphere. There are wooden changing rooms and a concrete path leading to the bath so that visitors do not need to get their feet dirty. Bathers may wear towels or bathing suits in the bath. Note that no amenities are sold nearby. There is a campground nearby and campers, sweaty from their endeavors, often use the bath.

    A hot spring hotel located in Shikaribetsu Gorge. In business for over a hundred years, the hotel's hot spring bath waters, said to be able to cure any malady, are pumped straight from their sources and are constantly replenished kake-nagashi style. The hotel takes particular pride in its 11 hot spring varieties, none of which have additional water added to them or are artificially heated. There are two bath areas, the Urukanu area, which has five baths, and the Inankuru area, which has four baths including two outdoor baths; which is the men's area and which is the women's area alternates daily. The facility's other two baths are the Ikoro Bokka no Yu on the first floor of the Komorebiso hotel, whose waters unusually well up from the ground at surface level; and the reservation only Inenarutaki no Yu outdoor bath located close to a waterfall. The establishment also has facilities such as rest areas and a shop.

There is a healing lounge, housing a library with approximately 800 nature books or photography compilations where one can relax while listening to healing music with real nature sounds. One can spend time napping or reading in this attractive relaxing atmosphere. The sanjo chashitsu tea room, equipped with tea ceremony paraphernalia, is also available for anyone just wanting to have themselves a tea time.

The natural fountains, created by hardened mineral deposits from the waters, are designated a Natural Monument.
