Daimon Yokocho Hakodate Hikari no Yatai is an alley located in the Daimon district in front of Hakodate Station. It is lined with 26 restaurants where diverse cuisine can be enjoyed, including ramen stores, seafood restaurants, sushi shops, and bars. Regular events are also held such as Daimon Bar offering one drink and one meal for a set price of 500 yen during certain times, and it can be seen bustling with many people. It is also a spot where you can enjoy contact with the locals with the many regular customers not to mention the staff.

A workshop making handmade ham and sausage surrounded by nature tucked away at the foot of Mt. Niseko-Annupuri. They make sausage, ham, and bacon the faithfully recreates the authentic flavors of Germany. The owner trained in a sausage shop in Nuremberg, Germany, and makes sausages without any synthetic preservatives or chemical seasonings, resulting in sausages that are known to let you taste the actual flavor of the meat. The second floor of the building houses a restaurant with jazz flowing through it and you can enjoy fresh grilled sausages either on the terrace on sunny summer days or indoors in the warmth of their wood burning stove in the winter.

This restaurant specializing in Japanese Black beef is about a ten-minute drive from Onuma park, just next to Ikusagawa Post Office. It offers a taste of local beef grown with time and care. Since this restaurant was opened specifically by a group of local farmers deeply involved with the cattle trade, it is able to offer truly flavorful beef. The menu is complete with steak, yakiniku style barbecue, hamburger steaks, and more. Japanese Black beef raised in the natural Onuma environment has aromatic red meat without any heaviness. The prices are kept reasonable by their direct supply connections, making this the perfect place to enjoy high-grade beef at a bargain!

It was one of the best beef Ive tasted. I had the sirloin and it was well marbled. It literally melts in the mouth. I am still craving for it to this day!

With its large, distinctive windmill is this guest house located near Cape Soya in Wakkanai City, Hokkaido. Almelia offers cuisine using Soya Black cattle raised in the natural surroundings of Cape Soya, and fresh seafood from the Sea of Okhotsk. Hamburg steak with plenty of meat juices, and Hamburg steak stew are popular dishes here. This restaurant is situated in front of Mashu Station at the gateway to Teshikaga in eastern Hokkaido. A popular dish here is their Mashu pork rice bowl with carefully selected Hokkaido pork loin grilled over a wire mesh and covered with a special sauce. It has been awarded second place in the nationwide ekiben (a bento, or packed lunch, often sold at train stations) contest, and is delicious even when eaten cold. The Mashu-no-megumi ramen noodles in a specially made salty soup, made with the secret ingredient of cow’s milk, and topped with plenty of locally sourced vegetables, is especially popular with the ladies. Poppotei is a lovely little restaurant, frequented by tourists and loved by local residents too.

You can buy the restaurant's smoked soy sauce and smoked oysters to take home as a souvenir.
