Housed in a red brick structure built in 1912, this store displays music boxes collected from all over Japan and the world resplendent with a warm radiant atmosphere. Approximately 15 minutes on foot from JR Otaru Station, this shop was repurposed from the historical Natori Takasaburo Store built in 1906. Inside the shop are displays of Japanese style glass works made in Otaru City which are available for purchase. The Ryuhyo Glass Museum is located a one-minute walk away from the rest area on Route 39 in Abashiri City. At the museum they have glass workshops, a shop and a cafe. The glass raw material used is mainly recycled glass of waste fluorescent lamps called Eco Pirika. Eco stands for ecology while Pirika means ‘true’ and ‘beautiful’ in the Ainu language. The fluorescent light bulbs are not imported but collected and recycled from municipalities and companies across the country to make the raw material. You can have a go at blowing glass and making glass beads, making for some great memories of your travels.

"This specialty music box store is located facing Sakaimachi Street. The historic building was built in 1893, and Kaimeiro Brand music boxes are exhibited and sold here. It has been designated as a historical building of Otaru City, and has a mysterious atmosphere which evokes a sense of nostalgia. It has a reputation for allowing customers to spend their time peacefully in the spacious and brightly lit store. As the building also has a workshop, customers can choose their music and boxes to order ""mix and match music boxes,"" even purchase ""DIY music boxes"" to decorate themselves or also order ""custom-made music boxes"" with your memorable music."

The tourism and production center adjacent to JR Yoichi Station sells special products and also offers tourist information. In the souvenir corner there is a wide variety of liquors including Nikka Whiskey famous from the NHK morning drama and Yoichi wine. Their freshly baked apple pies using locally grown apples and handmade gelato are loved not only by tourists but also by locals. On the second floor is “Jump Kingdom Yoichi Exhibition Hall” displaying approximately 200 items of ski jumping Olympic medalists including skis they used etc.

Here you can find many original products only sold here in Kobushiya, as well as popular confectionery such as Shiroi Koibito, Rokkatei, and Royce’. They have a wide range of products on sale, including sea related products, Hokkaido sake, and the Beware of Bears range of goods. You’ll never tire of looking at what they’ve got on sale! The Shiroi Koibito confection, originated in 1976, is made with white chocolate sandwiched between soft Langue de Chat cookies and is as popular as ever.

A satellite shop of Otaru glassware company Kitaichi Glass. Operating out of an old-fashioned building facing National Route 5, here you can try glass engraving. The shop's sandblasting class involves blasting sand onto the surface of glass to etch out your very own original design and is easy even for elementary school-aged children to do. You can get your creation that very day, perfect for making a memory with family or a friend. The shop also offers a glass bead arranging class in which you combine your favorite glass beads along with other parts to create a necklace or bracelet. The shop is also located a little away from the popular Otaru Canal, ensuring you can enjoy a quieter, more relaxing experience here.

A Hokkaido souvenir shop located on Sakaimachidori Shopping Street in the center of Otaru. As well as Otaru, the shop has branches open in Sapporo and Hakodate too. All the branches have a wide selection of sweets and local sake from across Hokkaido, so it’s a great place to do all the souvenir shopping. All the classic confections like Shiroi Koibito, Rokkatei, Royce’, Jaga Pokkuru, and Hanabatake Bokujo are on sale. The shop has English and Chinese speaking staff making it easy for tourists to do their shopping. The stone exterior of the shop fits in nicely to the retro look of Otaru’s streets.

MOOの中にある土産物店の一つでした。どの店舗も似たような売れ筋商品が並んでおり、同じ商品ならどこで購入しても同じようでした。因みに同店の陳列棚にはこぼれ落ちそうな程の商品が並んでおり目移りしたものの、バラマキ用に適した菓子類も沢山並んでいました。

This souvenir shop is about a two-minute from Marimo no Sato Pier. The first floor has a wide variety of souvenirs, and on the second floor they have a cafe where you can enjoy dishes made with fresh Hokkaido ingredients. They stock the line of Herb Hill Furano original cosmetics, made with care using Furano's famous lavender. The manufacturers are strict in their careful selection of Japan-made ingredients, and the result is cosmetics that create vibrant, glittering skin. The shop also offers marine products and farmed marimo algae, as well as famous Akan sweets and wood carvings.

20人くらいの団体でランチに利用しました。一階はお土産屋で上の階が食堂、広めの空間、テーブル席。料理はすでに決まっていたので、どんなメニューがあるのかは分かりません。ワカサギの天ぷら、ホタテのバター焼き、ホタテの炊き込みご飯などでした。普通でした。

The cute, fluffy looking marimo can be kept in regular tap water so they're very popular souvenirs. They say if you keep them out of direct sunlight and change the water once a week, they should grow about two millimeters a year. They also have a wide array of locally oriented character goods including Kewpie, Gachapin, Dakkochan and more.

Their woodcarvings, made by craftsmen who have spent their lives learning Ainu patterns, are all designed with unique patterns. The letter openers and keychains carved with colorful Ainu patterns are sure to draw the eye.
