Tadasu no Mori is an old-growth woodland located inside the grounds of Shimogamo-jinja Shrine in Kyoto's Sakyo Ward. It contains lush stands of zelkova, hackberry and other trees. In 1994, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Four small streams flow through the forest, making it a popular spot for emotional and spiritual refreshment. Visitors can enjoy the forest year-round, especially the new greenery in the spring and the colorful leaves in the fall.

Kasatori Avenue of Pines is about a 30-minute drive from the Saku Interchange or 60 minutes from the Suwa Interchange, running from about 1 kilometer west of the old Ashidajuku post station on the Nakayama Road (one of the five great roads of the Edo period) to Kasatori Pass. The Avenue of Pines is about 2 kilometers long with about 60 pines. It is said that in 1602, the shogunate distributed 753 pine seedlings to the Komoro clan and that they were planted in the surrounding villages. The pines are anywhere from 150 to more than 300 years old, and even now, one can appreciate that classic scenery. The Avenue of Pines has been designated a Prefectural Natural Monument, and it is being protected and enhanced as part of Matsu Namiki Park.

This row of pine trees is located along the old Tokaido road in Maisaka, Maisaka-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City. Pine trees were first planted along the road here in 1604 by the Tokugawa shogunate. At one point there more than 1,400 pine trees were planted here. Currently, there are more than 300 planted pine trees over a span of about 700 meters of the old road. Visitors are sure to recognize the vestiges of the ancient Tokaido road.

Sasayaki no Komichi (whispering lane) is a path alongside the Yagasaki River. The murmur of the stream, surrounded on both sides by Japanese andromeda plants, is a pleasure to the ears. It is also the stage of Tatsuo Hori's novel, Beautiful Village. The sunshine through the leaves of the acacia trees is beautiful.
