    This observatory is in Hateruma, Taketomi Town, Yaeyama County. It is located in the southeast part of Hateruma Island, and they perform starry sky guidance while you observe the perfectly sparkling stars in the night sky above Hateruma, and observation of heavenly bodies using a telescope. During certain times, you can see the southern cross from Hateruma Island, as it is Japan's southernmost point on a manned island. Also, during the day, you can gaze at the scenery of islands and sea from the roof.

    "This observatory is located on Mt. Takabuto, a mountain selected for inclusion in the Japan Sunset Best 100. From the mountaintop 117 meters above sea level, visitors can get a sweeping view of the fantastic scenery of Amakusa Matsushima, part of Unzen-Amakusa National Park. The mountaintop is also a famous destination for viewing the setting sun and has been included in the Japan Sunset Best 100 list. In ancient times, the mountain's name was written with characters meaning ""high fat mountain,"" but after a local military commander had fun dancing on top of it during the Warring States period, it came to be written with characters pronounced similarly but meaning ""high dancing climbing mountain."" Some 30 cherry trees grow on top of the mountain, and in April it bustles with visitors come to enjoy the sight of their blossoms."

    Located at the southern end of the island, Habu Port was made by excavating an area that used to be a crater lake. The area's retro townscape maintains the atmosphere of days gone by on the island. Facing the Oshima Loop Road, it provides a sweeping view over the uniquely curved port. The Miharashi Rest Stop across the street makes it an ideal place for a break while strolling around the island. Nearby is a statue of Heiroku Akihiro who was instrumental to the creation of Habu Port and its village.

    まずタワーが古いです。 ・屋上までは460円 ・タワー内部に入っても挨拶一つない ・従業員(特に男性)が暇なのか女性従業員にちょっかいをかけており、誰かの悪口をいってるなど不快 ・眺望はまずまずですが、如何せんさびれた町と寂れたタワー故、中はボロボロ・メンテもされた様子もなし、イスも殆どなく長時間座って景色を堪能できない。 ・売店コーナーも港町ならではというものがなく、何処の売店でも買えそうなもの...
