  • Noto Peninsula

    A long, narrow peninsula jutting north from the near center of the Hokuriku region. The coastline, surrounding the peninsula on three sides, is diverse, from the jagged rock formations of Noto Kongo formed by crashing waves; to the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, a beach area on which you can drive a car. Another one of the peninsula's appeals is the local liquors and cuisine made with ingredients from the area's rich farms and abundant sea. The Wajima Morning Market is particularly famous, but some of the area's many other unique highlights include the Shiroyone Senmaida Rice Terraces, selected as one of the 100 most beautiful terraced rice fields in Japan; and the majestic Kiriko Festival, registered as in the Japan Heritage program. If traveling by plane, the peninsula is around one hour from Haneda Airport.
  • Chita Peninsula

    This peninsula is located on the western side of Aichi Prefecture. Crafts such as brewing and Tokoname ware pottery have flourished here for many years, and it is now also the location of Chubu International Airport. There is abundant seafood from Ise Bay in the west and Mikawa Bay in the east, as well as many spots that are ideal for clam gathering and swimming.

    This peninsula is in Oga City, Akita Prefecture. This area is famed as the origin of the namahage folk monster, and the entrance to Oga has a Namahage Statue. Mt. Kanpuzan has a rotating observation platform offering a 360 degree view of the grand scenery. They also offer popular paraglider rides to try. There are onsen facilities like Oga Onsen Village, and this is a great place for tourists to spend a few relaxing hours.

    This peninsula is located in the southeastern part of Aichi Prefecture. The coastal part of the peninsula, known as Mikawa-wan Quasi-National Park, is surrounded by Mikawa Bay, Ise Bay and the Pacific Ocean, and the entire inland part is known as Atsumi-hanto Prefectural Nature Park. The area is also famous for its rape blossoms, and the Atsumi Peninsula Rape Blossom Festival is held here every year from January to March.

    This 26 kilometer-long peninsula is Japan's longest sand spit (a long landform that protrudes out into the ocean). Visitors to its untouched natural environment can see plants such as todowara and narawara across the entire peninsula. The sight of traditional Utasebune Hokkai shrimp fishing sailboats floating in Notsuke Bay also has a whimsical beauty.

    A peninsula located in northeastern Oita Prefecture. Oita Airport is found on the peninsula. The area centering on the peninsula's highest peak, Mt. Futago, is also known as one of the first places in Kyushu where Buddhism and Buddhism-Shinto syncretism flourished, and a group of temples dedicated to Tendai, a Buddhist sect which originated here, is collectively referred to Rokugo Manzan. Today, the area is still dotted with numerous shrines and temples, such as the Fuki-ji Temple, whose large hall has been designated a national Treasure; and Usa-jingu Shrine, the head shrine of all Hachiman shrines.
  • Karakuwa Peninsula

    A 30 minute drive from JR Kesennuma Station. This peninsula, covered with picturesque scenery is located on the northeastern tip of Miyagi Prefecture. The peninsula's fabulous scenery includes magnificent cliffs and the complex inlets and coves characteristic of a ria coast. The peninsula has been designated a part of Sanriku Fukko National Park as well as an underwater park. Famous sights include the beautifully contrasting blue ocean, green trees, and white bare rock of the Dairiseki Coast; the stretch of distinctive rock formations known as the Ogama; and the Oreishi, a huge natural marble stone column 16 meters tall and three meters wide. The area is also an excellent fishing ground and oysters, Japanese scallops, wakame seaweed, and other seafood products are harvested here.

    This peninsula located in Ikata Town, Nishiuwa County is the westernmost peninsula in Shikoku. Known for being the slenderest peninsula of its length in Japan, it stretches east to west between the Seto Inland Sea and the Uwa Sea for some 40 kilometers. The peninsula is dotted with places of scenic beauty and historical heritage sites such as the Sadamisaki Lighthouse that stands on its tip. Other attractions include beaches, campgrounds, and resorts.
