    A sushi restaurant operating in the city of Otaru. There's seating on the first and second floor and both floors have counter seating where you can watch sushi chefs crafting your sushi. Dedicated to the concept of serving fresh Otaru sushi at reasonable prices, the restaurant offers a selection of reasonably-priced set meals. Particularly popular is the Otaru Set, which comes with five pieces of sushi, tempura, chawanmushi savory egg custard, soup, and a mini donburi rice bowl. Tatsumi also has a children's set for families with children.

    One of the branches of a long-standing sushi restaurant. Zenan is notable for its open and modern interior. The restaurant's huge windows offer a view of Otaru Canal. Zenan stocks its seafood from the company's own fish dealer, including whole tuna. Particularly recommended is the 11 piece sushi set. The restaurant also has a full menu of side dishes like tempura. There's a seven piece set of sushi selected by the head chef for those with smaller appetites. Zenan also stocks 80 varieties of awamori liquor from Okinawa which go great with sushi.

    First visit was in winter 2013, we had a booking, no queue & wait list. And this is our 2nd visit in summer 2018, we waited 20 minutes because we had no booking. Staff are very friendly and helpful...

A small establishment, the restaurant has just nine counter seats and four tables. It has a quiet atmosphere, however, perfect for enjoying a meal and some sake.

The sea urchin is a Rebun Island specialty and has a rich flavor. During fishing season, many people come here to order the sea urchin rice bowl. This includes their seafood as well as the Hokkaido grown rice blend used for their sushi. They also offer donburi rice bowls. The most popular is their Ainori Bowl where guests choose four toppings from a list of 20. Their sushi menu features nigiri-zushi with Hokkaido place names, a nigiri-zushi of the day, and seasonal varieties. They also sell Japanese sake and shochu.

    This sushi restaurant moved to Maruyama in 2012 after operating inside a hotel in Sapporo for 10 years. One of the popular ala carte menu items is the defatted Whale Bacon with a slightly salty taste that brings out the meat flavor. Here, sushi with a little more care and effort is served with carefully prepared pieces such as the northern shrimp and flounder marinated in konbu kelp. The lunch menu includes set-menu dishes that come with salad, soup, and dessert.

    A sushi restaurant awarded two Michelin stars located on the first floor of Vesta Shinonome building in Otaru City. Here you can enjoy delicious, seasonal seafood from the abundant seas off Hokkaido served on cool glass tableware made in Otaru. The restaurant's large glass windows let in plenty of light, and the establishment has clean and neat counter seating as well as private seating, ensuring even families with small children can have a relaxing meal here. The owner particularly recommends the Kukizen Omakase Nigiri chef's choice nigiri sushi course. The chef will prepare tasty sushi gems using select seafood and other ingredients stocked that day; it's so tasty, just this course alone will satisfy you. The restaurant also stocks an original refined sake bearing its name as well as an abundant selection of local Otaru alcoholic beverages.

    Had lunch Omakase for 6600 yen. Very worth it for 2 Michelin stars lunch. The sushi were amazing and must try their own sake.

Also, they purchase fresh fish every day from the port in order to prevent price increases, and their sushi uses good portions of ingredients that take advantage of their flavor. The two-tiered lunch boxes, only available at the Tokeidai store, is highly recommended. It is a bargain set menu item with eight pieces of sushi, a mini side of soba and chirashi scattered sushi, onion salad and three kinds of amuse bouche. Their homemade fried fish balls go great with alcohol.

    This sushi shop located approximately seven minutes on foot from Izu-Inatori Station is a famous shop that has been serving up kinmedai (red bream) nigiri sushi for over 30 years. Starting with the local Inatori kinmedai which is said to be particularly high quality even among Izu kinmedai, they also source wild local fish such as buri (yellowtail), hirame (flounder) and madai (another type of red sea bream) from a fishmarket that is within close walking distance. When the surface of the kinmedai is quickly seared, it takes on an exquisite taste that allows one to experience both the sweetness of the fat and the umami flavor. Enjoying sushi as a set with arajiru (fishhead soup made with kinmedai) is also popular.

    Founded in 1933, Sushi Chu is a well-established sushi restaurant located in Ginza Town, Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The restaurant is famous for using the freshest seafood caught from the nearby sea as well as its succulent conger eel sushi and homemade rolled omelet. The popular local fish platter is a selection of fish local to Atami such as the firm sea bream and delicately flavored mackerel. Their local seafood on rice and special seafood on rice dishes, limited to only 30 per day, are also very popular. The restaurant also has a wide variety of sake including local sake from Shizuoka. Seating is available at the counter, at tables or on tatami mats, making it an easy place to bring the kids.

    This sushi restaurant located in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo County, Kanagawa has received recognition from the All Japan Great Tasting Food Association and has regularly appeared on TV and in magazines. Every morning the restaurant owner travels down to Numazu himself to buy the seafood which will be used for the sushi. The seafood is so fresh it’s easy to forget that the restaurant is located up in the mountains. The most popular dishes are the conger eel sushi with a light yuzu flavor, and mackerel sushi using thick, meaty mackerel. The restaurant has a very relaxed feel and children are welcome.
